@WHO and @MinSanteRDC showing what effective partnership looks like, rapid deployment, shared coordination, frontline focus. This is the standard. Now we need to match this operational speed with resources and long-term commitment.
Nearly 7 tonnes of emergency medical supplies and equipment along with a team of 35 experts from @WHO and @MinSanteRDC arrived today in Bunia from Kinshasa to support frontline #Ebola response in Ituri Province.
The supplies, including personal protective equipment, tents, beds and operational support items, will help scale up frontline response efforts, strengthen infection prevention and control measures, and protect communities at risk as operations intensify in affected areas.
@WHO is working closely with national authorities and partners to reinforce response operations and end the outbreak as quickly as possible.

On the 84 Multidisciplinary #AVoHC-SURGE responders trained in Nigeria and ready to be deployed within 24 to 48 hours, over 45% were female, marking a deliberate intent to assert our commitment to women empowerment and gender equality in all our operations as we roll out implementation of the SURGE Flagship roadmap in Nigeria, which includes expansion to six pilot states. Lessons learned from the first phase are now being used to inform scoping missions and step down training, a much needed milestone in a country-continent. The initiative which is contributing to the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and the Compact we signed with the Government alongside other development partners, is being spearheaded by @NCDCgov as the National Secretariat working closed with the @WHONigeria National Coordinator, making it a nationally owned endeavor and implemented with support from the Regional Office, in collaboration with @AfricaCDC and other #GHSA partners. I applaud the dedication of all our national colleagues involved, especially the leadership exemplified by our female colleagues who are playing a critical role in this initiative @UN_Nigeria@Fmohnigeria@NCDCgov@WHONigeria@DrTedros@MoetiTshidi @USAIDNigeria @USCDCNIGERIA@UKHSA@ResolveTSL@NphcdaNG@NafdacAgency@nemanigeria@nighealthwatch@NGFSecretariat

During my visit to #Rwanda 🇷🇼 I was struck by the bravery & resilience of health workers, many of whom are survivors of the #Marburg outbreak. Robust action by the government from the highest level, while working closely with @WHO & partners, is effectively driving the response.
On the sidelines of #Francophonie24 in Paris, President Kagame also met with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus @DrTedros , Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). They discussed the ongoing successful collaboration in the tracking and containment of the Marburg virus in Rwanda as well as ways to enhance disease control and prevention.
"Health workers are at the forefront of the #Marburg outbreak response, facing disproportionate risks. @WHO is supporting #Rwanda's response to ensure their safety & well-being. Our hearts go out to health workers & others who lost their lives." 👉@WHO Rep Dr. @BrianChirombo
