@LilijaLMUN Great post Lilija! No matter the setting, hearing a live band play one of your favourite songs creates a great atmosphere that is just not the same when a speaker is playing the same songs. #POPMUSS21
@JenniferBoland9 Great post Jennifer! There’s something about listening to a live band play at a concert or in a bar that is unique compared to listening to a speaker play music. #POPMUSS21
I disagree with Wald. If our generation didn’t want to go see a live band, than there wouldn’t be so many concerts put on that sell out quickly. While it may be second tier to live concerts, this is largely due to costs associated with these concerts not seen years ago #POPMUSS21
@KarenGa34614297 While cultural theft is a horrible thing that did and does still occur, I agree with you that it is very important to “acknowledge and learn” so that we can better the music industry for the future because no artist wants to loose recognition for their hard work. #POPMUSS21
@antoniojose__ The history of music is something that if talked more about, will create a better world as you suggested. Through feeling connected with the past as well learning about how music has transformed over the years, we can accomplish this #POPMUSS21
Authors would often consider this period of cultural theft as schlock because music was stolen and reformed into other songs. While serious, it is not enough to be dismissed because there are still people listening to this music #POPMUSS21
@JeffWal77975982 While Ray Charles had many struggles throughout his life, he was always able to find himself in his music and able to show his true emotions when out on stage, hence his breaking voice #POPMUSS21
@antoniojose__ Ray Charles defiantly stood out from the rest when singing. It’s what made him so different and controversial early on in his career but it’s also what made him one of the best artists of all time #POPMUSS21
Ray Charles used a breaking voice in his music because he wanted his listeners to hear his true singing voice. Ray Charles was very different from other singers and it is his breaking voice that has made him one of the most recognizable voices in the world to this day #POPMUSS21
@antoniojose__ Great point you put in about how the accessibility of music has changed from a CD to accessing all music online nowadays. This allows people to stay on top of new music and support more fellow artists in their music endeavours #POPMUSS21
@pye_aaron These features have become a great way creators from all over the world can express how they feel about certain artists and songs. We can easily share our thoughts and receive feedback from others which help build and grow a positive music industry #POPMUSS21
Streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud have allowed people of all identity’s to come together, support one another, and share their creative minds for all to hear. This has helped create a more accepting group of listeners #POPMUSS21
@matthew_crewe Less complex music is becoming more and more common. As you stated, people are more focused on other things when listening to music making the lyrics less important. Many songs today involve the beat/background being louder than the person singing. #POPMUSS21
@GarrettTilley7 I agree that music has become “dumbed down” in order to reach a wider target audience. Music putting more importance on the beat and background sound over quality lyrics are becoming more and more popular. #POPMUSS21
Music culture today has become a more “dumbed down” version of its old self. While there are still well put-together songs, popular songs often involve the rhythm and beat to be more important than the lyrics themselves in order to appeal to younger generations #POPMUSS21
If I was stranded on an island, three albums I would need to have are:
1) Morgan Wallen - Dangerous: The Double Album
2) Lewis Capaldi - Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent
3) Big Bootie Mix Vol. 15
