Common lumbar puncture-related myths:
1. You have to get a CT or MRI head to make sure the LP is safe (in all patients) - FALSE
2. You have to check platelets and clotting before LP (in all patients) - FALSE
3. Patients have to lie flat for an hour after the LP - FALSE
So, the poll shows that of 2038 respondents, one third chose the recommended dose of levetiracetam in adult status epilepticus... #levetiracetam#statusepilepticus
Would love to see the same poll for what people give most commonly for benzo dosing. Almost always around 1mg loraz in my experience. People are always “scared of losing the airway” in someone actively losing their airway from a prolonged seizure. Madness.
