Three years ago, we started Restate because we felt that building reliable distributed applications was just too hard. We were solving the same problems around failures, recovery, and consistency again and again.

Today, I'm excited to share that we've raised a $20M Series A led by Singular with participation from Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures.

The need for solutions like Durable Execution has only grown since we started. Today, the majority of new Restate use cases are AI agents: long-running processes, coordinating across many tools and APIs, that need to keep working correctly through all sorts of failures and interruptions, coordinate sub-agents, or schedule work.

At the same time, our customers have pushed Restate into places that expanded our own view of what Durable Execution could become. Replit moved the execution of Replit Agent onto Restate. DOSS runs high volumes of enterprise workflows on Restate and Fortune 500 institutions are using Restate for complex transactional workflows.

We think this is just the beginning and excited to build what we believe will be a fundamental pillar of all infrastructure in the future.

@esammer Another great aspect here is that you have a lot more flexibility with regard to deploying updates to user code.

[jamiegrier @jamiegrier]

Very well said @esammer . I agree completely. A pretty great direction I think.

.@StephanEwen's overview of @ApacheFlink's stateful functions 2.0 is pretty amazing. Disaggregating Flink's engine such that standalone processes get the semantics and state mgmt of Flink, but can deploy as separate k8s pods is a huge win for lang/runtime independence.

[Fabian Hueske @fhueske]

.@snntrable just revealed at #flinkforward what I have been working on for a while. We're adding a Streaming SQL Platform to @Ververica Platform to unlock the power of Flink SQL and make it super easy to use! BTW Ververica Platform community edition is available for free!

Software development gets tremendously harder when you start to have to convince people instead of just writing the code

In our education system, we need to include lessons, like those concerning physical hygiene, that focus on mental and emotional hygiene, that teach how to develop a healthy mind. This is the core of what I call secular ethics.

Check out what the community is working on: Table API and Streaming SQL, unification of batch and streaming, major enhancements to both types of use cases, to the ecosystem, operations, etc.
