@everfluxgames Pixel filters rarely make a game look better and it requires a lot of work to do right (otherwise you get a lot of jitter artifacts). Your game looks great 'clean'.
@theogramme_dev AO is great when done right. It needs to be set to a low opacity to be effective though. This would look much better at like 25% opacity.
@RobertJALA It's why I chuckle every time people cry about Unreal being unoptimized. Years in mobile dev has taught me so many clever optimization tricks.
@rayslynyrd Nice work on these, they look great. My hot take is that down, right, and up animations are a waste of time for most pixel games. You can generally get great results with 2 animations--diagonal down and diagonal up, which will save a TON over the course of a game.
@thomasmahler We had a review with 300+ hours and it was "not recommended" with a description of "Not enough dragons." Sadly, some gamers would rather troll and ruin their hobbies future than add substance.
@BinaryImpactG Reset is a great way to store references to needed components. In your example, the BoxCollider property should probably be serialized, otherwise it won't save that reference on reloads.
@shmerbgo @_herose_@klblaz23 You are wasting your time trying to convince Henry. Anyone with this elitist mentality isn't going to listen to reason. At the end of the day the engine you use doesn't matter, what matters is if your ship something. There's many many reasons to make a 2d game in Unity.
@KasperArnklit@tarasov65536 I use a game engine because it helps enable me to make games, which I enjoy doing. Building skills that I can take into other paths in the future is a huge bonus. I might not always want to make games.
@KasperArnklit@tarasov65536 Similar or not, at the end of the day why would an engineer spend thousands of hours on a very specific coding language or a widespread one like C#? At least with C# you could go elsewhere and use those skills, GDscript is going to restrict hireability outside of Godot.
@GuitarKidGames @bitbrain Genuinely curious, how is it better? In C# you can pretty much google any problem and find examples. That's a huge benefit for using a widespread programming language over a custom one. How many features of C# are missing in GDscript?
