@pamelafox as the maintainer of a harness not in the blessed standards group, with an existing ecosystem of thousands of plugins, with a plugin design that already solves this and more, there is zero reason for me to adopt an inferior standard i have no say over.
after reading the spec, this actually solves nothing. and the rest of us not in the blessed in-group now has to feal with another mess.
just like with the skills "standard", which to date nobody has implemented properly, because for that you basically have to reverse Claude Code's slop.
we should stop calling our shit engineering.
WHOA!!! Cory Booker unleashed absolute HELL on the Judiciary Committee floor as they voted to advance Todd Blanche to the Senate. 💥
No fluff, zero filter, just pure real-time accountability.
That's the fire we need. 🔥🍿
BOOM! Hunter Biden sitting down with Nick Fuentes in Philly was a wild exchange to watch.
When Nick tried to list off white culture icons like Mozart, Beethoven, and the Founding Fathers, Hunter hit back, "What history, man?" and dropped real facts:
The Count of Monte Cristo was written by Alexandre Dumas—a Black Frenchman back in the 1700s. Hunter completely dismantled the constant playbook of pointing fingers at Black people, brown people, Mexicans, or Haitians.
Hunter pushed right back: "Why’d you vote for Trump in 2020, Nick? He never built your wall."—reminding him that "inclusion has been our greatest strength, diversity has been our greatest grace."
Pretty remarkable turnaround from Nick to even sit down with Hunter.
There's quite a bit of background debate about the effects of rewinding on an asynchronous setup (also called "sequential timeline divergence") vs split brain (two concurrent primaries; also called "concurrent timeline divergence") also with async replication (same scenario).
In asynchronous Postgres failover, even a strictly sequential transition (where the old primary stops accepting writes before the replacement is promoted) can lose acknowledged transactions and leave irreversible external effects such as duplicate payments, shipments, messages, or reused identifiers. This is inherent to how Postgres asynchronous replication works, and if you don't use synchronous replication you have to understand these potential side effects.
Concurrent divergence, however, is strictly worse: when both primaries remain writable, the two branches can interact in both directions through clients or external systems, independently grant the same database-backed locks, and cause mutually dependent or simultaneous effects that no sequential handoff can produce. It also changes the risk from a **bounded failover window** (bounded by Patroni timeouts and configuration, if using Patroni) into one that **can grow for the entire partition**, because the losing primary continues acknowledging writes after its replacement is already serving traffic.
Thus both failure modes can cause data loss and external-state pollution, but they are not operationally equivalent: **concurrent split brain permits additional classes of histories and potentially unbounded damage**.
Which is, IMO, a huge difference, and explains why async consequences may be tolerated; while split brain is never acceptable --especially when there are tools like Patroni that prevent it from happening.
Reacher star Alan Ritchson on the Trump administration:
"Look at the politics that we deal with right now. The White House is in ruins, a fucking UFC cage on the lawn. And nobody says anything, no consequences. Nobody asked. It wasn't done legally. There's no plan in place. Now you're asking for money. It's like, what are we doing?"
I had to google this because I couldn't believe it
Elon Musk is suing Minnesota to stop a ban on nonconsensual sexual deepfakes.
Yes you read that correctly.
Why does Elon Musk want nonconsensual sexual deepfakes?
while I was sleeping, the PGSimCity AI brigade cooked another experimental toy, it's super early and has lots of issues, but an interesting concept
this one is "half real, half fake" (half stock, half cache)
a real postgres in wasm is used there, pglite
you can write queries and see what happens

Noted inequality economist Gary Stevenson, whose best selling book The Trading Game beautifully chronicles his triumph and then his disintegration as a trader for Citibank, came by the studio to discuss his ideas for taxing the super wealthy, growing financial and social polarisation, Elon Musk, growing up Mormon in Ilford, clashing with Rory Stewart, clashing with Piers Morgan, clashing with various other people in his new Channel 4 documentary and what in his view the future holds for society. This episode was recorded late July, before Gary’s announcement about possibly stepping back from his YouTube show, though viewers/listeners should get a sense of some of the frustrations that led him to the decision. Available to watch on Spotify and to listen to everywhere else.
Hunter Biden: “What’s the one thing in the past 250 years that stands out a little bit? Maybe it’s the guy that paved over the Rose Garden and put a fucking Nazi eagle on the front of the fucking White House. Maybe it’s the guy who just took a fucking jet from the Qataris, the largest gift ever given to a president by a factor of a thousand which is completely illegal”
