@Robert83446279@Acyn Obviously a subsidy. Walmart makes 1% margins on groceries. A bodega 2-5% because its costs are higher. There's no 30% savings to be had.
@emilyinvc@aalaprag 4 is generous that they won't be in foreclosure before they die. A reverse mortgage at 6% accumulates much faster to the value of the home than a 30 yr mortgage at 6% because you have compounding not amortization
@SenSanders Political greed is Bernie Sanders demanding higher taxes while Washington spends trillions of dollars a year, runs massive deficits, and wastes trillions on failed programs.
These tax hikes aren't unavoidable. They're unacceptable.
@manishamishra24 That's not really his point. His point is he is NOT commiting to a spend that assumes they continue to 10x revenue because if he is off by months, they go bankrupt. The point is really how hard it is to plan for exponential growth.
Space telescope radiators: they’re instrumental!
Our “trap door” is now open: the ADIR (Aft Deployable Instrument Radiator) has swung out from the back of the telescope to radiate heat from our science instruments into space. https://t.co/os8QVTpzN3 #UnfoldTheUniverse
@Nick_Davidov There's some pretty good exposure to the hot private companies via publicly available stocks. Makes me wonder why the private venture funds are trading at such a high mark to NAV.
@TheLeftAteMyHwk@CommishSmith A free society where people can profit or loss from their decisions will inherently have unequal outcomes. A society that prioritizes uniformity will inherently limit freedoms.
@cremieuxrecueil They are measuring off of all unrealized gains which is a bit misleading as 4% or less would be a "normal" amount to spend out of savings given conventional wisdom on retirement.
@dvasishtha@chaitanyarshah Sometimes see at a Series C like this, but it doesn't start capital gains or QSBS holding periods, it just defers recognition. Lots of barriers for employees to participate in the full benefits of owning startup equity.
@om_patel5 ChatGPT was able to identify my IQ, Briggs Myers traits and quite a bit of other behavioral analysis, using no journals, just context from how I ask questions, what I ask questions about, etc.
@JamesSurowiecki If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner making below market wages to grow your business and then sell it after a decade, $1 million for ten years work is not a high earning rate spread across those ten years but you would be taxed at the highest rates.
@ednewtonrex I've always thought the issue is more on output than training. Training is basically just teaching the model what the world is and is the sum of human knowledge. Asking a model to create a new movie in a series using something from that content seems to be another level.
@nbaschez@geoffreylitt Long term probably, but don't discount the next decade where people who are not technologically savvy are supervising people who are using AI.
@Teslarati According to my kids: robot driver, emissions mode, sketch app, Santa mode, "fart noises one more time". It's very apparent other car companies aren't even trying to plan for a FSD world where entertainment is #1 priority.
@compound248@rabois Sure you agreed to the same thing? you seem to be saying price per share. @rabois seems to be saying market cap (which would include capital raised)
@Tbenami@chamath There should be significantly fewer loss events with autonomous driving over time (timeline TBD). Pricing will likely be baked into autonomy driving as a service per mile as liability shifts to maker. Vertical integration of insurer means safety boost is direct profit increase.
