Everyone wants to be more focused. Very few actually train their focus.
The @UVABaseball squad did a concentration grid competition and here’s why I love them…
When you’re searching for the next number, blocking out distractions, and recovering quickly after you lose your place—you’re literally training your attention muscles.
Just like you build physical strength in the weight room, you build mental strength in the ‘Mind Room’.
Whether you’re a college athlete or 10 years old, this is one of the best drills to build a clutch brain.
Focus isn’t a gift. It’s a skill. A very trainable one. 💪🧠
*Shoutout to @clucarelli10 for dominating.
Players that love the game don't get burned out.
They embrace the process, the work and the required resilience.
The baseball novice loves to say, a kid quit playing because they got burned out.
Wrong, they quit playing because they didn't love the game.
It's OK, and allows the kid to find something he is passionate about, that he genuinely enjoys.
Baseball becomes a waste of time for kids that don't want to be great at it.
Chasing greatness in anything is honorable, it doesn't have to be the game of baseball.
What is Soler good at?
Turning on pitches.
He crushed this ball because his east-to-west move let him rotate fast 💥
But here’s the rule:
Rotation without direction = bad.
Direction without rotation = worse.
The best hitters balance both. 🎯
There is a lot more to hitting than standing on 1 leg and trying to create some picture perfect swing!
Listen to Johnny Gomes talk about all that goes into being prepared to face a certain pitcher. I personally wanted to know the velocity of his pitches and what was his OUT pitch. I hunted the fastball 99.99% of the time until 2 strikes. With 2 strikes I looked fastball middle away and adjusted to the off speed. I believe many of today’s @MLB hitters are guessing based on the percentages of types of pitches that particular pitcher throws and trying to hit the ball hard in the air. This is why the strike out rates are through the roof. #shegone @notgaetti@BobFile@twuench@billdubs@SliderDominate@slider_sinker@ROXSystem@BLocsports@TheRealJHair@DMEASrecruiting@WillClark22@GDBJr5@mikepiazza31@RealCJ10@SimplyAJ10@_mcameron44@GarysheffieldJr
Transfer (Utility) @justingoire getting some work in at the lab. The smooth hitting righty is capable of playing several position without flaw. Having an average EV of 85 off the tee, along with a 6.79 60, Justin is only continuing to get better. Looking for JUCO fall 2025.
Hypertrophy is not 8-12
It’s at least 18-36 TOTAL reps
And I’m tired of people not acknowledging that it’s the total reps that matter more than the reps per set
I like 15-25x your max in tonnage
Here are some general numbers 👇🏼
All serious ballplayers:
⚾️Lift Weights
⚾️Do Speed Work
⚾️Long Toss Regularly
⚾️Get Extra Work In
⚾️Hit Everyday
⚾️Work On Defense
⚾️Take Care Of Their Body
The question is :
How hard do you work at these, and what effort do you give when you’re working?
You can easily go through the motions just to do it and not get much out of it, or you can put in high effort with the right intent and actually improve!
It’s not just the work…
It’s the work + the effort & intent!

THE COMPLETE INFIELDER …. A DIRT BRO… HAS IT ALL…
Elite feet, elite hands, elite eyes (seeing the ball at high speeds), elite judgement (reading hops/angles), efficient transition from field to throw, ability to repeat mechanics, short arm stroke, ability to throw from all arm angles … on the run. Various footwork patterns… Elite Range and timing…. Soft hands… The ability to make plays one handed or two handed. Have a strong arm (when needed) and a very accurate arm… ALWAYS. On top of all this, you must have an elite internal clock. Above average baseball IQ and situational awareness. And It’s critical that all the above be taught and trained regularly. Hope to see you at Dirt Bro Camp This Summer. First camp in two weeks at UNCW.

Bench Press Goal Guide by Grade
9th-135
10th-185
11th-225
12th-250
Very attainable with an average consistent effort. Players
Don't let the weak sheep tell you baseball players shouldn't bench.
They are the same folks that think a mile is distance running.
Francisco Lindor pregame catch play
Is your pregame catch play preparing you for the demands of the game?
Are you throwing from multiple arm slots? On the run? Don’t let the first time you throw on the run or w/ low arm slot be in the game
