M ≥ 5.8 from 19 February to 4 March (so far). Stronger #earthquakes rarely occur on average. More often they occur in clusters. Do not make the mistake saying that M 6 quakes occur every 2.7 days! They do not in real time, as clustering relates to planetary/lunar positions.

We have marked (subduction) zones in the world that have the potential to generate great earthquakes (~M ≥ 8.5), that have been quiet for a relatively long time. One of these zones could experience a great earthquake in the near future.
