Today, #Uganda has discharged the last #Ebola patient, a Congolese national who has successfully recovered and ready to be with his family.
We now begin the 42-day countdown required before Uganda can officially declare the outbreak over, in line with international guidelines.
While we celebrate this achievement, we urge everyone to remain vigilant. If you develop symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea or unexplained bleeding, seek immediate medical care. Early treatment saves lives.
The Ministry appreciates health workers, communities, partners and all Ugandans for standing together to protect our nation.
The discharge was officiated by the Minister for Health, Hon. @CHRISBARYOMUNS1, Director General Health Services, Prof. @olaro_charles, Under Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Akiiri, @WHOUganda, @UNICEFUganda, @AfricaCDC and Ministry of Health senior officials at the Mulago National Isolation Unit.

Global childhood vaccination rates rose slightly in 2025, yet millions of children remained unprotected against preventable diseases as conflict, funding cuts and growing outbreaks undermined immunization efforts. https://t.co/IHuJPW1M5D https://t.co/IHuJPW1M5D
Had a meaningful meeting with the Kween community on the anthrax outbreak. I commend the community’s resilience and the health authorities' swift response. Timely reporting is key—quick alerts from the community enable our rapid response. #Kween#AnthraxPrevention@kofihuganda
