Our Project Director, LPHS-EC - Dr. Kagimu Richard had a courtesy visit to Busia district and had a discussion with the DHO and his team plus the Project staff. The district health leadership appreciated the cordial relationship and support they received from MJAP and promised to work together to achieve all the indicators.

The hardest part of being a doctor is seeing how many patients suffer because of poverty, not pathology.
You can treat TB with drugs.
But you canโt treat the fact that the patient sleeps in a 10ร10 room with 6 family members and no ventilation.
Up until 2025, we have been learners of the truths set before us. Now, 2026 invites us into the deep: to move from knowing to being, to encounter God beyond understanding, to experience the living reality of our faith, free from being governed by knowledge alone. Happy New year!
MJAP continues to shine internationally through the visibility gained from publishing our work in the Busoga region, showcasing innovative approaches in public health research and digital surveillance. Our recent study on leveraging geospatial intelligence and digital surveillance to improve tuberculosis (TB) case detection and monitor drug resistance in the Busoga region was published in the Journal of Interventional Epidemiology and Public Health as part of the proceedings of the National Annual Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Conference (NACNDC) and the Joint Annual Scientific Health Conference (JASH) 2025.
The work demonstrated how integrating digital case-based surveillance systems, national health information systems, and geographic information systems (GIS) mapping can significantly enhance the detection of confirmed TB casesโincluding rifampicin-resistant and multidrug-resistant TBโand support targeted interventions in high-burden areas, with notifications doubling and treatment linkage maintained at strong levels through precision-targeted strategies.
This achievement further highlights MJAPโs commitment to evidence-driven public health practice and research that informs policy and strengthens health systems in Uganda and beyond. Congratulations to the MJAP MEL team, especially Emma Barasa, for this outstanding contribution and international recognition of our work.

Listen to Rwanda's ICT minister Paula Ingabire talk about AI and partnerships with Gates Foundation. Then, turn to Uganda's ICT minister, Chris Baryomunsi, to explain the rudimentary state of IT in Ugandda schools. Cheese and chalk!
Many come to God with the question, What do you want me to do? Itโs not bad, but itโs far from the priority. The question we should be asking daily is, Lord, who am I in relation to who you are? Answer that one, and what you do becomes intuitive, natural, organic, and purposeful.
Noerine Kaleeba @TASO's patron made a courtesy call to @MJAPUg LPHS-EC office Jinja to not only say thank you for the collaboration but also inspired the team with her life of impact founding TASO, shapping UNAIDS,mentoring young people through @ghcorps where I was a fellow!
Kudos to your leadership! We interacted with our @MJAPUg board of directors and spoke to our successes in compliance, stakeholder engagement, and more! Their expertise-and jovial spirit-made for some good laughs!
