So grateful to @UofTSchmidt_AI for the opportunity to work with incredible scientists @BoWang87 and @JenGommerman on novel machine learning approaches to understand how microbes influence (neuro)immunity.
Please give a warm welcome to our newest #SchmidtAIinSci Fellow, @kcjorgensen ! Kevin has joined our second cohort since the start of May, and is investigating how microbes promote neuro-immune homeostasis.

Assessing #phage-host population dynamics by reintroducing virulent viruses. @EmmaAllenVercoe shows colony isolation removes virulent viruses from gut #bacteria. Reintroducing virulent #virome to bacteria has specific impacts on community & prophages https://t.co/vFqwGZT1r2
Another beautiful paper from @QuintanaLabHMS and colleagues. You can read the spotlight article that @kcjorgensen and I contributed on how Astrocytes “ACLYmate” to inflammation and adopt trained immunity. Cool beans!

Excited to share a big part of my #PhD work in
@JenGommerman lab at @UofT, now available in

I am incredibly honoured to receive the 2023 Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine. Huge thanks to @OntUniv for this award, to @McMasterU for support through my PhD, and to @UofT and especially @JenGommerman for creating a fantastic environment to do postdoctoral research!
Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Champagne-Jorgensen from @UofT, winner of the 2023 Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine!

Had a great first day at @vom2023 and am looking forward to the rest of the week. Come speak to me at today's poster session if you're interested in my viromics work with @milja001 (poster C2-056)
Big props to @scientiff for Illustrator wizardry and great writing (along with @DoinItDarby) and of course @DwayneR0ACH for making it all happen. Shout out also to @RyanCookAMR for some brilliant suggestions. More from us on this soon!
Really pleased to share this from @phage_bio! Tons of fantastic work recently in the therapeutic and commensal phage fields, so we thought it was worth a deep dive review into how these bugs impact the mammalian host. Our takeaway?
Immunologically, phages seem to be "seen" like any other viruses! Context and phage structural characteristics seem to be important factors determining immunogenicity - but more work needed on this front.
Spatial transcriptomic analysis of intestinal inflammation in dynamic. One of the best and most detailed analyses of fibroblasts in DSS colitis.

Congratulations to the whole team @ImmunobiologySG ! Our study, supported by the @snsf_ch , showing how immune cell-provided cues support B cell niches and humoral immunity is out in @NatImmunol today: https://t.co/0j9gCLez2p
A big moment for me: I started as an u/g then grad student in Immunology @UofT. After 20 years of running my lab @uoftmedicine, alongside my friends and colleagues I am now excited to lead the Dept as Chair. Thank you all my mentors, family and friends for support along the way.
1/ Hi friends - please RT the following 2 ads. We are looking for talented people to join our HI3 team. Help us prepare for future pandemics! https://t.co/6VZxepM95v
Our collaboration with Yingfei Ma's group on gut phage culturomics is published in Cell Host&Microbe! The Gut Phage Isolates Collection (GPIC) expands the diversity of cultured gut phages and provides a valuable resource for human microbiome engineering.
