@ashishkjha If you’re saying that you believe the lab leak theory, it seems like you’re one of the most prominent mainstream Covid experts to do so. I’d really like to know more about how you came to that view.
@devahaz Incredible that MAGA has adopted some of the food politics of @michaelpollan
But then again, Pollan actually explored these right-wing perspectives via the farmer Joel Salatin in Omnivore’s Dilemma
@simonsarris@GarrettPetersen The many thousands of protesters in Minneapolis demonstrate a deeper belief in law than the federal agents harassing, beating, and killing people there.
@JoyceCarolOates Democrats’ inability to win elections in wide swaths of rural America has helped bring about the bad things that you list. One can quibble with the article but the broader issue seems pretty important?
@michaelmina_lab@ScienceMagazine Do you have examples of better ways to engage? Empathy always sounds great in the abstract but I have trouble understanding what it looks like on the ground for this issue.
@Schneider_CM Good points (you’re too grouchy about Mamdani but oh well). I feel like Ezra Klein has been saying something similar from the liberal side, most recently in this piece.

@simonsarris Another area where we need large-scale progress is global public health. It's really hard to appreciate someone who doesn't understand that need and who, through DOGE, actively tried to destroy the progress we have made.
@Ann85337297@VickiMcKenna Yep, high school students are sometimes going to behave badly, especially when discussing controversial issues. This is some kind of shocking national scandal to you?
There’s no evidence that the teacher or the course condoned such behavior. The post is fake outrage for clicks.
