Modern technocracy has the same disease that destroyed older managerial orders: it begins governing symbols instead of reality.

Pre-revolutionary France had it. The administrative class spoke the language of reform, reason, fiscal order and enlightened management while the material system beneath them was breaking: grain prices, debt, taxation, food insecurity, class resentment and institutional decay. They still believed the state could be managed by decree.

The Bronze Age palace systems had the same failure . Their rulers managed trade, tribute, scribal records, grain flows and diplomatic networks. On paper, the system looked ordered. In reality, it depended on fragile material chains: tin, copper, harvests, ships, armies, irrigation, labour and legitimacy. Once those chains broke, the palace tablets did not matter.

You can ivaervecthis unfolding in the AI community as well.

Which is the modern bureaucratic pattern.

The UN makes intellectual sense as an idea: cooperation, peace, universal rights, shared rules. But bureaucracies do not live inside consequences. They convert ideals into managerial decrees, then treat resistance as ignorance or evil rather than feedback from reality. The classic Clinton notion of the deploorables, however accurate that might be at the start. It becomes all encompassing so I need to non-however accurate that might be at the start it becomes all encompassing to include anyone who disagrees with the technocrats

The IPCC problem I referred yesterday is similar when climate models become legal-administrative tools rather than living risk maps. The IPCC debates on the final expression of a model is Monty Pythonish.

The model becomes the governing object, while nonlinear danger, missing mechanisms and material vulnerability get flattened into consensus language.

Central banking has its own priesthood. Price efficiency is treated almost as a deity. Once the system worships price signals while ignoring material capacity, it creates incentives for domination by actors who know how to game the framework.

The same logic appears in gender politics and migration policy. Contested moral questions are converted into bureaucratic commands. Borders are treated as academic problems of equality rather than political realities tied to trust, consent, wages, housing, culture and national cohesion.

Technocracy doesn't remove politics. It hides politics inside procedure.

It takes moral decisions away from democratic argument and relocates them inside agencies, courts, NGOs, treaties, expert panels and international bodies. The NGO’s if you’re looking at them forensically are all controlled by billionaires.

Then, when citizens object, they are told they are irrational, hateful, backward, racist or uneducated. It's the counter incentives that naturally arise from this moral vassalage that I contend is the cause of the conflict of national ideals.

. The failure is idealism without material feedback. Once a ruling class mistakes its frameworks for reality, it can no longer see the system breaking beneath it till it breaks.

@samstrades @agroasx Where did you get the 1930s idea from? The general deduction section in the 1936 Act was largely a restatement of the 1922 Act. Deductions for interest incurred for the underlying purpose of capital gain rather than earning assessable income is case law precedent stupidity.
