Incredible News! Egypt has banned camel and horse rides around the Pyramids of Giza, officially transitioning to electric buses and carts to protect the animals from overwork and harsh conditions. 🇪🇬🐫
I OPPOSE the Save Our Bacon Act and any attempt to jam it into the Farm Bill.
This bill would gut state food safety and animal welfare laws, wipe out voter-approved protections, and strip states like NY of the right to set basic standards.
It's a giveaway to Big Ag and meat monopolies, punishing family farmers who followed the rules, while giving the biggest corporations more power to squeeze farmers and families.
Congress should be lowering food costs, not rewarding the monopolies driving them up. The Save Our Bacon Act does not belong in the Farm Bill, and I will fight to keep it out.
Today @USDA@SecRollins and I secured a major win for animal welfare.
Ridglan Farms will transfer its remaining 475 beagles out of a research breeding facility and into the care of a no-kill rescue, where they can begin the path to adoption.
Thank you, @LaraLeaTrump, for championing this issue.
We are also launching a new @NIH office, ORIVA, to speed the transition away from animal testing and toward modern, human-based science.
We will keep fighting for humane treatment of animals, better science, and accountability.
As another carriage horse collapses and dies in Central Park, we're left deeply disturbed and saddened. Today, Ryder's Law was reintroduced in the City Council, and we urge councilmembers to pass this legislation that would put an end to carriage horses in NYC once and for all.
BREAKING: Undercover footage shows the nightmarish warehouse cells where NYC carriage horses are trapped in deplorable conditions when not in dangerous NYC traffic.
These poor animals have a HORRIFIC LIFE of walking the busy streets , in and out of congested traffic in hot and cold temperatures. These horses NEVER touch grass, never graze in pastures and no socialization with other horses .
They have NO pasture for grazing and interacting with other horses as herd animals NEED to be healthy and they are denied proper veterinary care.
THIS HAS TO STOP. TAKE ACTION BELOW TO END THIS ABUSE.
Everyone can call NYC Council Health Committee Chair Lynn Schulman at 718.544.8800 and press 0 to leave a message to ask her to cosponsor and fast- track #RydersLaw Intro 967 to end this criminal horse abuse!
NEW YORKERS: please make a quick call or send an email to your own New York City COUNCIL MEMBER urging them to POST sponsor and pass intro 967,
#RydersLaw.

Statement from Council Member @ChrisMarteNYC and Voters For Animal Rights President Julie Cappiello:
“This Thursday, Council Member Marte will introduce Ryder’s Law, legislation to transition New York City away from horse-drawn carriages and toward a safer, more humane future.
The death of a carriage horse in Central Park tonight is a heartbreaking reminder that this system no longer works — not for horses, and not for the workers whose livelihoods depend on an industry facing an uncertain future.
Horses are living beings who deserve dignity and compassion. They should not be forced to navigate the noise, traffic, and demands of New York City streets.
New York City can protect animal welfare while supporting the workers who depend on the horse carriage industry. As we push to end horse-drawn carriages, we are committed to ensuring workers have a fair transition, economic security, and access to new opportunities.
We look forward to working with TWU, the City Council, and all stakeholders to develop a workforce program that supports affected workers and their families.
Tonight’s tragedy was heartbreaking — but future tragedies are preventable.
It is time to pass Ryder’s Law.”
Tonight, a carriage horse collapsed and died in Central Park. We do not yet know this horse’s name, age, history, or what caused their death — but we do know this: no horse should spend their life pulling a carriage through the streets of Manhattan.
We have seen this before. Ryder. Lady. Aisha. Charlie. Smoothie. And now another horse whose life ended on the pavement.
This moment demands more than outrage. It demands action. On Thursday, the City Council will reintroduce Ryder’s Law — legislation to finally transition New York City away from horse carriages and retire the horses to sanctuaries.
That future will include the workers, too. Carriage drivers deserve a real transition plan with stable jobs, protections, and benefits — and we are ready to work with TWU and all stakeholders to make that happen.
But doing nothing is not an option. Another horse is dead on the streets of New York City.
For the horses. For the workers. For New York City.
Pass Ryder’s Law.
🚨 JUST IN: Trump EPA Chief Lee Zeldin just moved to AXE cruel DOG and ANIMAL testing *permanently*
Why would a Democrat oppose this?!
"We announced 13 new approach methods having that approval from our agency, which allows us to continue that process of phasing out animal testing permanently. We're excited to do it!"
🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
Major victory on Capitol Hill. The House adopted bipartisan amendments to reduce cruel dog and cat testing, advancing modern alternatives and ending taxpayer funding for painful experiments. Momentum is building. We're not stopping until it's banned. #savethebeagles
In a Congress with more division than ever, it’s great to work with @RepLangworthy in a bipartisan way to shut down Ridglan Farms and ensure that animals are not mistreated!
It’s just the right thing to do.
Let’s be honest: no one wants uninvited rodents in their home (no matter how cute they are!). But just because mice and rats sneak in doesn’t mean they deserve to suffer horrific deaths in the process of being evicted. https://t.co/gTUI5mpgth
My bill will prohibit industrial octopus farming in New York State before it can start. We need to protect our ecosystems by bringing this bill to the floor and to the Governor's desk!

This is great news! Thanks to all of the many groups involved for helping rehome all these dogs. I'm thrilled that another 135 dogs will be leaving Ridglan Farms this week. I won’t rest until we know every dog is out of there and in a safe and loving home.
Help us ban octopus farming in New York!
Octopus farming is cruel, unnecessary and has no place in our state. Send a message to your legislators NOW and urge them to protect octopuses from factory farming!

Thank you to @theanimalvoters and @woodstocksanctuary for leading this incredibly important fight.

The movement to save beagles from torture at Marshall Farms has become a rallying cry heard around the world. From across America and across the globe, people are speaking out with one voice: end the cruelty, save these animals, and choose compassion over suffering.
BREAKING:
Trump’s EPA chief Lee Zeldin just took another huge step to END animal testing.
We exposed Fauci’s cruel beagle experiments five years ago.
Now, we’re dismantling the dark legacy of dog tests across the government.
WCW President Anthony Bellotti declared we’re leading the charge to “eliminate outdated EPA red tape that forces companies to poison puppies” alongside Rep. Michael Cloud.
“Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to bankroll big-government bureaucrats who mandate beagle torture, butcher bunnies, force animals to inhale firearm emissions in bizarre gun-control experiments, or make animals eat lard and breathe smog.”
The EPA announced its bold plan to phase out all testing on mammals during Trump’s first term, but we exposed how Biden’s administration cancelled the plan.
Now, the EPA is back on track to shut down animal testing by 2035.
Other Trump agencies like the NIH should follow EPA’s lead.
Thank you EPA for setting a bold example!

@BronxZoo Happy, I’m so sorry the @BronxZoo gave you such a bleak view of humans. They had the chance to be better and refused, but know so many of us are committed to ending the torture you had to endure. I’m so sorry we couldn’t help you on time. UNTIL EVERY CAGE IS EMPTY #RememberHappy
Happy never got to experience the freedom she deserved, but her case changed the legal landscape forever and helped spark a movement for nonhuman animal rights. Join us as we #RememberHappy on social media this week. Help ensure her legacy lives on: https://t.co/skAxOW5Y9M
