I’m starting to get more insight density per unit of time from AI than from social media.
It no longer makes sense for me to scroll through AI slop when my own AI OS gives me sharper insights.
agreed:
1. most knowledge work is administrative overhead
2. ai is good at eliminating that overhead
3. many companies are incorrectly interpreting that as “we need fewer people.”
4. the correct interpretation is “our people are now freed to do higher value work, let's redeploy them”
I think some of the frustration that people experience with reality is actually deterministic expectations colliding with probabilistic environments.
Deterministic Frame: I did everything right. This shouldn’t happen.
Probabilistic Frame: A smart decision can still go wrong.
Bad sales sounds like selling.
Bad marketing looks like marketing.
Bad copy looks like bad copy.
Good marketing, sales, and copy only do one thing: it gets you to buy.
When you hear people say that they hate marketing and sales, what they really mean is they hate bad marketing and sales because every other time that you buy it still happened.
It was just good.
People with too much free time live in their mind, imagine a lot of negative things about how you might be secretly viewing them, then come up with unnecessary drama; people with clear goals are great to hang out with precisely because they are barely thinking about you at all.
Here is Peter Thiel’s email to Zuck and Andreessen in Jan-2020 predicting socialism.
Tl;dr too much student debt and lack of affordable housing keeps young people with negative capital for too long. And without a stake in the capitalist system, they will turn against it.
news is basically engineered anxiety. it’s abstract, external, & almost always negative. nothing about it affirms your agency or intimacy. but people cling to it because it’s a cheap way to feel informed, like they’re plugged into the world.
tldr: reading most news is horrible for you.
If you’d like to get rich or stay rich, I’d encourage you to develop the ability to change your mind.
Most ideas are shitty. So staying fixated on shitty ideas creates an anchoring bias that will weigh you down to the mediocrity of the masses. Learn to change your mind and skate to where the puck is going to be.
Others who can’t change their minds will constantly remind you of a former opinion. Ignore them. They want you to be down there with them so they can feel better about themselves. Don’t fall for it!
@kimmonismus bullish on ai, but jobs = identity for most people
so when innovation wipes out jobs, it also wipes out identities
if we don’t build off-ramps for people, we’ll create a resentment class
they don’t care about the macro, they operate in the micro
