I lowkey want to switch to a completely different industry, one where I can at least take my time to think
Sadly I need to pay rent, so this is not an easy decision
I'll need a lot of time to become skillful enough in something else so I can have a similar income
I seriously want to reinvent myself
My job has become prompting and reviewing code
I'd lie if I said I read 100% of it
Most of the time I barely think, and when I need to, it is so hard
I'm tired of this, but this is the way Software dev. has evolved
My superiors expect me to ship at the speed of light, so I can't stop prompting my way out of problems
I miss being able to dedicate a lot of time to tasks, and refining every detail, fully knowing my codebase
Those times have ended
Look how quickly Word loads in Windows 98.
Electron app H1B vibe coded React slop Windows was an absolute travesty. This thing has fucking a 400mhz Pentium II processor for Christ's sake.
What the fuck happened to Microsoft?
The new camera app is nothing but awful.
It's terrible UI because the two buttons at the bottom don't indicate WHATSOEVER that it's actually a slider lol
Just look how they previously did it. It was subtle but clearly indicates "there is more".
The zoom buttons are also shit, from clearly visible to almost invisible (and you hate that they move now)
In the latest version of Windows, I often click the Start button, and it literally does nothing. I find this stunning and fascinating, given the implications.
So during the holidays, a friend and I were talking iPhone Air and she said she did not get the new iPhone because Apple removed Portrait Mode. I said no. Hold on. I opened the camera app and said "Oh I see what you mean" 🤦♂️
@shadcn All they had to do was just leave it like this instead of having it shrink down and look like there are no other options there. It's such a bad design, they went so far with this stupid aesthetic design they lost total sight of actual everyday usability.
