The #AfricaRegionalYouthSummit26 officially begins today in Kampala, bringing together young people and stakeholders from across Africa to explore how youth can lead the growth of agroecological enterprises and influence inclusive policy change.

Under the theme “Investing in Youth for Agroecological Enterprises and Inclusive Policy Change,” the Summit will create space for young people to share ideas, build connections and shape conversations around the future of Africa’s food systems.

At the Kalangala Mobile Legal Aid Camp, we are seeing the devastating impact of domestic violence in landing-site communities. Some women bear visible scars from violence, while local leaders often lack the tools and support needed to challenge harmful narratives that normalise abuse.

These communities need more than one-off interventions. Sustained human rights conversations are essential to equip communities and leaders to prevent violence, respond to abuse and protect survivors.

Our semester dialogues must deliberately reach these landing sites and keep the conversation going.

UGANET, together with @PoliceUg, Office of the Prime Minister (@OPMUganda) and @Refugees, conducted a community awareness and policing session in Zone 5A, Palabek Settlement, Lamwo District.

The session focused on crime prevention, access to justice and the role of community members in promoting safety and peaceful coexistence.

We engaged both refugee and host communities, strengthening their understanding of how they can work together to prevent crime, access justice and build safer, more peaceful communities.

THE 10TH LAND AWARENESS WEEK IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY! 🌱🏡

We kicked off #LandAwarenessWeek2026 last evening in Kasese with a radio talk show on Kasese Guide Radio, bringing together voices from government, civil society and farming communities to discuss land rights and the issues affecting communities in the Rwenzori Region.

The conversation featured Denis Obbo from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, James Cleto from PELUM Uganda, James Maluku Muserero, Senior Land Management Officer – Kasese, and Abel from WASHIRIKA Farmers. The discussion set the stage for a week of community dialogues, legal aid, accountability engagements and conversations on secure and productive land use.

Today, we take the conversation to the community. 📍 Our starting venue for Day 1 is the Kasese Multipurpose Hall grounds, from 8:00 AM. Join us as we bring land rights conversations closer to the people.

🤝🏽 Stakeholder and investor dialogues to address emerging concerns and promote responsible, sustainable investment.

🎶 Music, dance and drama bringing land rights messages to life through creative expression.

At the heart of it all is one goal: promoting secure land rights for productive land use and economic transformation.
