"All 320,000 children under five are at risk of acute malnutrition." Mass starvation is being used as a weapon. What makes it so outrageous: It is so easy to change this. From one day to the next. One person decides about life and death in Gaza.
Independent human rights experts:
“All States must act decisively to prevent Israel’s destruction of the conditions of life in Gaza & stop its endless war on humanity. States must do everything in their power to restore UN humanitarian system in Gaza.” https://t.co/eQ4r0coCjk
Airdrops are at least 100 times more costly than trucks
Trucks carry twice as much aid as planes.
If there is political will to allow airdrops - which are highly costly, insufficient & inefficient, there should be similar political will to open the road crossings.
As the people of #Gaza are starving to death, the only way to respond to the famine is to flood Gaza with assistance.
@UNRWA the largest UN agency on the ground, has 6,000 trucks loaded with aid stuck outside Gaza waiting for the green light to enter.
The UN including UNRWA + partners were able to bring in 500 to 600 trucks a day during the ceasefire earlier this year.
Aid reached the entire population of Gaza in safety & dignity. It succeeded to reverse the deepening starvation without any aid diversion.
No alternative to the UN coordinated response with UNRWA as the backbone had provided similar results.
Let’s go back to what works & let us do our job.
This is what people in Gaza need today more than ever together with a lasting #ceasefire
Let’s be clear: The creeping annexation of the occupied West Bank is illegal.
It must stop.
The wholesale destruction of Gaza is intolerable.
It must stop.
Unilateral actions that would forever undermine the two-state solution are unacceptable.
They must stop.
I am appalled by the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The last lifelines for survival are being cut off. Without an urgent influx of fuel, incubators will shut down, ambulances will be unable to reach the injured and sick, and water cannot be purified.
The @UN has a clear and proven plan, rooted in the humanitarian principles, to get vital assistance to civilians – safely and at scale, wherever they are.
I renew my call for an immediate permanent ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
Israeli forces have been scaling up military operations in northern Gaza, especially in Gaza City and Jabaliya. On 27 June, an airstrike hit the home of an MSF surgeon and data analyst in Gaza City. The couple were wounded along with their 3 children.
After being rescued from underneath the rubble, our colleagues and their 3 children were taken to Al-Shifa hospital, but it was so overwhelmed with patients from several mass casualties and had no room or capacity to provide the necessary treatment to the whole family.
The family of five were forced to move between 3 hospitals: Al-Shifa, Al-Quds & Al-Aqsa. They were forced to evacuate from the north to the centre of the Strip. Gaza’s health system is so devastated, no single facility can provide all the specialised treatment required.
Israeli forces’ relentless attacks and targeting of medical facilities mean the facilities that remain cannot provide every aspect of the treatment patients require for some injuries. Patients, including children like 9-year-old Khalil, 8-year-old Kareem and 4-year-old Julia, now endure multiple transfers to get the care they need.
While they were receiving treatment in Al-Aqsa hospital compound, the facility was struck. This was the 12th time this hospital has been attacked. Attacks on hospitals must stop now.
At least 319 million people face severe food insecurity today.
🛑Food insecurity is not just a crisis of hunger—it's a threat to peace and stability.
🍽️Ensuring access to food is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of global security.
“In my 20 years working in this area and working throughout conflict zones all over the world, we’ve never seen anything like this because occupying power is intentionally starving the population...”
—CEO of Oxfam Ireland Jim Clarken
Food should never come with gunfire.
Over 500 Palestinians have been killed and 4,000 injured under Israel’s militarized distribution scheme in Gaza.
This is not a humanitarian response.
More than 170 organizations, including @Amnesty, are calling for an end to this deadly system and a return to principled, UN-led humanitarian access.
People in Gaza are being shot for seeking food at distribution sites run by an Israeli-US scheme.
🔴 They are shot if they arrive early
🔴 They are shot during the chaos of the distributions
🔴 They are shot if they arrive late
These atrocities must end: https://t.co/wr81qwjpFw
The Israeli-US food distribution scheme in Gaza is slaughter masquerading as humanitarian aid. In one month, 500+ have been killed for seeking food.
The Israeli authorities must revert to a principled humanitarian system, coordinated by the UN.

"We are losing biodiversity at a rate unparalleled in human history." Global wildlife populations have sunk over 60% since 1970.
We are destroying ourselves and taking nature with us.
Time to protect people and the planet.

Today we launch our plan to get lifesaving aid to 114m people in greatest need on planet.
We’re forced by cuts to hyper prioritise, but we’re determined to do as much as we can with what we have.
We ask just 1% of what world spent on defence in 2024.

— James Baldwin
Our teams joined the mass casualty response in Nasser hospital, Gaza, today, after another disastrous food distribution resulted in people getting shot by Israeli forces. Hear from patients:

Humanitarian aid is a field guided by decades of lessons learned, led by professionals, and dependent on trust and relationships in some of the riskiest areas in the world. This expertise, relationships and lessons are being literally&deliberately erased. https://t.co/jFQyzrq2j3
