I was glad to contribute to Somalia’s NCOF for the OND/Deyr 2026 season, where climate information was brought into practical discussions around preparedness, early action and sectoral decision-making.

The three-day capacity-building workshop in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda, has concluded, strengthening the capacity of refugee and host community leaders to advance women’s meaningful participation in governance, decision-making and recovery processes.

Over the three days, participants identified barriers to women’s participation, exchanged practical solutions and developed community action plans to strengthen women’s leadership, protection, livelihoods and social cohesion.

The workshop marks an important step in translating regional commitments on Women, Peace and Security into practical, community-led action.

@IGADgender extends its appreciation to the Government of Uganda, through the Office of the Prime Minister (@OPMUganda), and the Government of Japan (@JapanGov )for their support and collaboration in advancing inclusive and gender-responsive refugee governance. @IGADsecretariat
