🚨 Excited to share our mixed methods review and meta-analysis in @AnnFamMed! 🚨 We evaluated the effectiveness and implementation of palliative care models in ambulatory care, with my wonderful co-first author @DegrootLyndsay@JHUNursing @JHSPH_HPM https://t.co/Z7Href6Mu9...🧵
Our new paper in @alzdemjournals@alzassociation assessed the prevalence and utility of subjective cognitive impairment measure against a validated probable dementia measure in @NHATS_NSOC https://t.co/vf7tRXRiI1
Emmanuel Drabo @jwolff_sph@zissimop
Just in! Center faculty Wendy Shields, with co-authors @jlevy2, @LindaChyr, & @SF4publichealth, published a paper in @IP_BMJ finding that the average cost for a scald burn related emergency department visit was $572 & $28,431 for a hospitalization (1/3). https://t.co/ig4hVjcVWS

I'll be teaching "Videogame Level Design" in January. Attached is the course description.
The Media Arts and Design program didn't exist when I was an undergrad, but I would have LOVED to take such a class!
🚨 Follow-up study to our mixed methods review on ambulatory palliative care in @JPSMjournal! We examined the use of minimal clinically important differences (MCIDs) to interpret patient reported outcomes (PROs) @SydneyMDy1 @JulieWRx @AHRQNews https://t.co/JskU2yrm1z...🧵
MCIDs as measures of clinical meaningfulness are critical for interpretation of palliative care research with PROs.
Researchers should consider using instruments with well-established MCIDs and incorporate available MCIDs in study design and interpretation.
An endowment in honor of Judy Kasper was established to support students engaged in dissertation research that informs policies to improve the care and well-being of vulnerable older populations and their families. Consider supporting the fund: https://t.co/UtD2xy21df

Successfully defended my PhD last week and added a few extra letters to my name! Incredibly thankful to my family, friends, co-advisors @SydneyMDy1 and Emmanuel Drabo, and amazing committee members @ChaneeFabius @ScottZeger@GeorgeRebok#PhDone
And to my family and especially my wife, @carolyn_peyser, who has always supported me on this path.
And awesome friends, collaborators, etc, including fellow PhD students @ysingh_hopkins, @rabideaub, @lindachyr, @KellyAnders0n, and others at @JHSPH_HPM @JHU_HBHI and beyond.
@lindachyr, et al: Across the literature, models that integrate palliative care into ambulatory care settings:
- incr. advanced directive use
- were no more effective than usual care for improving patient quality of life or depressive symptoms scores
