Colorado’s high court just slammed the door on Tina Peters.

Monday. CPR News. Tom Hesse. The Colorado Supreme Court declined to hear her challenge to the original nearly nine year sentence on election tampering charges. Former Mesa County Clerk. She got nearly nine years for permitting unauthorized access to the voting equipment she oversaw while trying to show what the outlets still call unproven corruption in the machines. Convictions stand. Record stays dirty. Freedom stays conditional.

Colorado Court of Appeals had already ordered a resentencing because the trial judge’s comments could be read as punishing her First Amendment speech. Before that resentencing landed, Jared Polis commuted her. She walked June 1 after a little more than 600 days inside. Polis said he was worried she was punished for believing election conspiracies. Then some of his own clemency board spoke out and he fired them. Mercy with a muzzle.

Peters asked the high court to take up Supremacy Clause immunity and juror misconduct. Court of Appeals rejected both. Colorado Supreme Court just refused to even hear them. Not a hearing. Not a review. A quiet decline while Colorado early voting moves and the same machine that locked her up keeps running the elections.

Not justice. Not closure. A free woman with a branded felony and a court that will not clear her name.

Not the deep state. Not some mystery cabal. Colorado’s own Supreme Court, Polis’s Denver crowd, and a sentencing regime that treated election skepticism like a crime.
