Sounds like a meme, but the mechanism is real.

A 5-week-old coin set off a GPU mining rush — and it's not hashing. Pearl mines crypto by running AI matrix math, and Together AI already signed on.

Today marks the start of 4CP season, and Luxor Energy members just received their first 2026 curtailment dispatch signal.
This is what it looks like in action. 🧵
The site was running 702 miners. During the curtailment window, load dropped to near zero, with Commander shutting down the least profitable miners first.
Peak energy demand doesn't mean peak grid stress.
Grid stress could be caused by unpredictable renewable energy.
"It might make more sense to look at net load instead of max load" says Haley Thomson of @luxor

Our team has been sprinting to ship automated 4CP curtailment ahead of this season. GA in ~2 hours.
We've been battle-testing the algorithm for months behind the scenes.
Soon we'll drop an in-depth piece on how we minimize downtime (more hashrate) without missing peaks.
Total downtime comes down to two things:
1) your aggressiveness setting
2) when the peak hits in the month
In backtesting, users should expect to curtail just 20-60 hours per month. Significantly less than the alternatives.
4CP season opens June 1st.
If your Texas mining site isn't managing coincident peaks, you're locking in avoidable transmission charges for the next 12 months.
A thread on what 4CP is and how to get ahead of it 🧵
Luxor's 4CP Optimizer manages it automatically.
→ Monitors ERCOT grid load in real time
→ Predicts when a coincident peak is approaching
→ Curtails your site through Commander — before the window hits
No manual monitoring. No outside vendor. Already part of your stack.
ERCOT's 4CP season opens June 1.
Four 15-minute peaks between June and September will set your Peak Load Contribution for the year ahead.
The new 4CP Optimization is live in the Luxor Energy dashboard.
