Despite the persistent and uninformed narrative pushed by certain vested interests individuals and organisations who brand the Kuki-Zo people as "refugees" or "outsiders" history tells a very different story.
The attached archival document, dated 17 September 1947, is the distribution list of the first Manipur Constitution Making Committee. Of its members, six were Kuki-Zo, forming a significant bloc among those who helped lay the constitutional foundation of Manipur itself:

3. Pu Thangkhopao Kipgen — B.A., C.O., Member
4. Pu Dr. Kampu Gangte — Advisor

These were not refugees. These were sons of the soil educated leaders who sat at the very table where Manipur's constitutional future was written decades before today's manufactured controversies.

A KUKI-ZO, CT/GD Chonkholen Haokip D-Coy of the 204th CoBRA battalion was killed on May 6/2023 by some assailants donning police-like fatigue ( arambai tengol) entered his village and killed him, senior officials told PTI.
He was on leave, to meet his family and love ones !!

The Kuki Community strongly condemns what it perceives as the continued targeting of Kuki civilians and villages during security operations while concerns regarding the activities of NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson Group), Shan National Army, and Junta Military elements remain unaddressed.

The people of Kangpokpi District continue to face serious hardships due to disruptions in the supply of food, rice, medicines, water, and other essential commodities. We therefore urge the Government of India, security agencies, and concerned authorities to immediately ensure the free movement of essential supplies and reopen the National Highway between Senapati District and Kangpokpi District.

The Kuki Community calls for impartial and equal enforcement of the law and urges authorities to address all security concerns fairly and without discrimination. Any allegations of misconduct, bias, or support for armed groups should be independently and transparently investigated by the competent authorities.

It is widely known that Sekmai is recognized as Manipur’s liquor/drugs capital. However, that does not necessarily mean you can do whatever you want after drinking or expose who you are, your community’s standards, and your attitudes.

The Manipur government must apprehend the perpetrators and prosecute them in accordance with the law without delay.

We urge all individuals to refrain from conduct in public that reflects poorly on their community’s standards and upbringing.

Such behavior should be confined to private spaces and not brought into the public domain.
