PRESS STATEMENT
KUKILAND
REFUTATION OF THE NVG-EC AND PHUNGYAR MLA MISINFORMATION
We are compelled to unequivocally expose and debunk the blatant falsehoods contain in the recent press statement issued by so-called NVG-EC and Leishiyo Keishing, MLA of Phungyar Assembly Constituency in Kamjong District regarding today's developments and preceding incidents.
In our previous public disclosures, we have explicitly clarified our foundational stance: We harbour no malice, animosity, or grievance against the Naga community at large, or the Tangkhul community in particular. Our defensive operations are strictly necessitated by the ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing targeted at the community, orchestrated and sponsored by Meitei state-backed actors.
Furthermore, our political aspiration for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with a Legislature is a distinct administrative demand that does not infringe upon or concern our neighbouring tribes.
Chronology of Provocations and Retaliations:
Despite our repeated appeals to maintain peace and stability in the Kamjong District, deliberate acts of aggression have continuously undermined our restraint.
May 6, 2026: Disregarding our calls for peace, Tangkhul militants set fire to Lanchah Kuki Village. In direct and proportional response, we retaliated by burning few Tanhkhul structures in Choro, Namlee and Wanglee.
May 12,2026: The same Tangkhul militants, in collusion with the Shanni Nationalist Army (SNA) razed Molnoi Village inside Myanmar. As this fell outside our immediate territorial jurisdiction, we abstained from intervention.
June 11, 2026: Tangkhul militants and the SNA committed a grave atrocity by burning Kultuh Kuki Village and executing two revered church leaders. Despite this profound provocation, we consciously chose non-retaliation to prevent an endless cycle of violence and to provide an opportunity for a peaceful resolution.
July 1, 2026: Overlooking our forbearance, Tangkhul militants and the Myanmar-based SNA launched another offensive, burning Phaimol Kuki village. Consequently, we executed a retaliatory strike on Konkan Thana and Shangkalok both of which historically constitute Kuki ancestral lands prior to the 1990s Kuki-NSCN (IM) conflict.
A Definitive and Uncompromising Warning:
Let it be known that our strategic forbearance has been exhausted. Every subsequent act of aggression will incur severe, swift, and commensurate. We are fully cognizant of your underlying machinations. You are attempting to manufacture a contrived, collective adversarial paradigm against the Kuki Community as afaciitate reconciliation between your fractured factions specially the NSCN-IM and the NSCN Eastern Flank. In selecting the Kuki Community as the scapegoat to achieve your internal political consolidation, you have committed a catastrophic strategic miscalculation.

The post was blocked.
The perpetrators remain free.
The Instagram post exposing Kacha Naga vigilantes threatening two traders at an illegal checkpoint in Kanglatongbi has been geo-blocked in India under Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act.
The authorities found the post within a day.
Yet they still haven’t found the men heard saying:
"Who should we kill, if not people like you?"
No arrests. No FIR.The illegal checkpoint remains.Kangpokpi continues to be cut off from essential supplies, including food and medicine.
Silencing evidence is not the same as delivering justice. If the law can act swiftly to restrict a post, it should act just as swiftly against those who openly issue death threats and unlawfully obstruct public roads.

PRESS STATEMENT
KIM Secretariat, the 1st July 2026
KUKI INPI MANIPUR STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE CONTINUED BURNING OF KUKI VILLAGES BY NSCN-IM AND SNA TERRORISTS; DEMANDS IMMEDIATE GOVERNMENT ACTION
04/KIM/PR/25-55 The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) unequivocally condemns the latest act of terror in which Phaimol, a Kuki village in Kamjong District, was reduced to ashes by armed cadres of the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM and the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA), an armed group operating from Myanmar. This latest act is yet another addition to the systematic campaign of violence and destruction targeting Kuki villages in the Tangkhul-dominated hill districts of Manipur.
What makes this incident particularly alarming is that the village had been under the protection of the Assam Rifles, whose personnel vacated the post only a day before the arson took place. The timing raises serious concerns regarding the security arrangements in vulnerable villages and necessitates an immediate and transparent inquiry into the circumstances that enabled the attack.
This is by no means an isolated incident. During 2026 alone, the following Kuki villages have been set ablaze:
K. Songlung (Kangpokpi) – 26 January 2026
Litan-Sareikhong (Ukhrul) – 8–9 February 2026
Songphel (Ukhrul) – 25 April 2026
Mullam (Ukhrul) – 25 April 2026
Lanchah (Kamjong) – 6 May 2026
Molnoi (Myanmar Border) – 12 May 2026
Kharam Vaiphei (Kangpokpi) – 30 May 2026
Loibol Khullen (Kangpokpi) – 5 June 2026
Kultuh Village (Kamjong) – 11 June 2026
Phaimol (Kamjong) – Latest incident
These repeated attacks reveal a disturbing and sustained pattern of violence against Kuki habitations. The continued destruction of villages cannot be dismissed as sporadic law-and-order incidents but reflects an alarming security failure demanding urgent intervention.
Kuki Inpi Manipur further questions how NSCN-IM cadres, despite being under a ceasefire agreement with the Government of India, are repeatedly involved in attacks on civilian villages without meaningful action being taken. Such incidents undermine public confidence in the peace process and embolden those who resort to violence.
The repeated involvement of the SNA also highlights a grave national security concern. Cross-border terrorism cannot be treated merely as a local law-and-order issue. The Government of India must adopt stronger border management measures and engage the Government of Myanmar to ensure that Indian territory is not repeatedly targeted by armed groups operating from across the border.
Kuki Inpi Manipur urges the Union Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of Manipur, and all security agencies to act decisively before more innocent lives and villages are lost.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur therefore calls upon the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to initiate proper, immediate, and decisive action to address these security failures and ensure the protection of its citizens.
Every citizen deserves equal protection under the Constitution, and those responsible for terrorising civilian populations must be held fully accountable.

PRESS RELEASE
Dated: 1 July 2026
The Kuki CSO Working Committee, Kamjong District, expresses its unequivocal and strongest condemnation of the alleged burning of Phaimol Kuki Village today by armed Tangkhul militants of the NSCN in Kamjong District.
This is not an isolated incident. A similar attack was reported at Kultuh Village on 11 June 2026, revealing what we believe to be a disturbing pattern of targeted violence against the Kuki community in Kamjong District.
These repeated acts of arson, intimidation, and violence constitute a serious violation of human rights, threaten peace and public safety, and undermine the rule of law. Such actions have caused fear, displacement, and suffering among innocent civilians.
We urgently call upon the Assam Rifles and all relevant security agencies to launch immediate and effective operations in the Chatric area, from where these attacks are alleged to have been planned and carried out. Prompt and decisive action is essential to prevent further violence, protect vulnerable communities, and restore public confidence.
We issue a stern warning to those responsible and anyone supporting such acts: cease these attacks immediately. Those responsible must be identified, apprehended, and held fully accountable in accordance with the law. Continued violence will only deepen divisions and further endanger innocent lives.
We also call upon the Government and all concerned authorities to act without delay to restore law and order, ensure the safety and security of all affected villages, and deliver justice to the victims. Lasting peace can only be achieved when those responsible for acts of violence are brought to justice and the rule of law is upheld.
