Last month I gave my first lecture (cyber security / secure software development) at the local university of applied sciences. I enjoyed the whole proces as a side activity and look foward to the new class in September.
@AriDavidPaul Accepting that there is no holy grail, we are for now indeed left with a healthy dose of paranoid about things one can reasonably control.
@AriDavidPaul Nevertheless, beginning of a positive change, forced by law and increasing security/privacy awareness of all actors, is observable. Journey ahead, eg cryptographic and minimal data sys and zero-knowledge proofs, is long though because of network effect and new business models needs
@AriDavidPaul Realistic sentiment. In today's network there will, by design, always be a weak link. Very hard to control ones agency in it, let alone impossible task of controlling propagation of yr info through whole network. Mainly because of human nature and functional and technical reasons
Simple artificial-intelligence problem puts researchers up against a logical paradox discovered by famed mathematician Kurt Gödel https://t.co/88LOVu5t2F
@naval Infinite potential in a complex system/network thrives on consistency with its limits. Incorporating limits by design in technology, like in a simple system as Blockchain, is the way forward to get more complex creations like nanotechonolgy networked and materialize.
@barbarikon@amayor@GuyChamberland Yes, I noticed too that it is a very unlikely use. One another possibility would be NR being initials or some other acronym.
Perhaps because the explicit "imaginary" forces students into a higher and disconnected abstract realm where it's harder and confusing for them to develop intuition for the relations with other mathematical objects and concept.
Wrong. Pattern recognition is as central as it gets to intelligence, just not all of it. Machine learning is on the right track. https://t.co/DqmdsuOhqp
The optimality of a process, be it computing or any other process, is relative to its correspondence with physical laws and emergent natural mechanisms.
@EmanuelDerman@FT I grew up with mostly having homemade fat/creamy yoghurt with bread as breakfast. Perhaps try making your own, it seems not that difficult.
It seems to me that figures are concepts too. While all concepts arise from the same plane rooted in the comprehension seeking subject, what sets them apart from others is their precise logical denoting, justification and operations.
“Figures are projections on the plane, which implies something vertical or transcendent. Concepts, on the other hand, imply only neighborhoods and connections on the horizon.” Deleuze and Guattari
@julian0liver Everytime I see the Critical Engineering logo I'm reminded of Conformité Européenne. Is there a specific idea behind the choice? Good luck with the courses.
IMO classification is useful monkish work. If ones imagination allows one should definitely go for new abstractions and constructs that can help reveal more fundamental elementary connections.
