Materials discovery might be the hardest thing you can ask AI to do today. Frontier models with lab tools and 100M+ tokens can "discover" hundreds of novel compounds that hit every target — but ask how you'd actually make one and it falls apart: hallucinated recipes, gaming the scorer, and eventually clocking out.

This also happens to be THE most important problem to solve. Compute scaled 100x and so did the heat you have to pull out of the chip, making thermodynamics the real ceiling on AI - not transistors, not capital. We need materials that don't exist yet.

Finding them takes nuanced "taste" in materials and the ability to arm AI with that taste. That's exactly what we saw in @Akash__Ramdas and @advaith_sridhar when we decided to partner with them!

It's amazing to see insti (@iitmadras) teams go after some of the most ambitious problem statements out there :)

Almost 20yrs ago, my first job out of college was to get heat out of AMD's chips. We were part of a small but mighty team called “power and performance management” and our core metric was TDP – Thermal Design Power. Somewhere between then and now the semiconductor industry ended up scaling 100x in almost all metrics, not just in market-cap but also the one metric that used to give us all nightmares: heat. So I consider this a bit of a personal homecoming that today we are partnering with @discoveredmat (@advaith_sridhar & @Akash__Ramdas) to lead their $9M seed round, joined by @ycombinator and angels such as @paulg, @gokulr, @trq212 and leaders from AI labs such @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI that are deeply interested in having this problem solved. Our core mission is to discover new materials to ensure Moore's law isn't in conflict with Boltzmann's law :)

- Accept fees in cash only
- Staff not trained on all visa classes
- Mandate masks to customers, when most of their staff inside don’t wear one.
