@atomicintro@Shaughn_A2 And if this was real, which it isn't, HR would protect the company here by supporting the employee in this case because it's in fact illegal to retaliate and can open the company to lawsuits.
@brandonjcarl@Gregoryboggis It's misleading to sum the top ten models only, thereby causing 6 or so weeks where Anthropic contributes zero to the graph despite not actually contributing zero.
@danzu72 I'm not sure you understand how hard it is to get initial estimates correct. It's an insanely hard thing to do. It's not like counting the number of dishes in a sink or something.
This tweet is misleading and will definitely be interpreted incorrectly. A better headline would be "language models can be taught to detect when they are being probed". As written, it implies they can sneakily learn this somehow on their own, which indeed would be a surprising and amazing result.
The last thing I'll say is you are completely right when you said "globalists advocating for one world government are trying to do that" but fail to see how the profit motive is at the center of globalization lol.
You were so close, but the minute capitalism is implicated you have some weird mental block as if I insulted your favorite character on a tv show.
Increased productivity due to wealth accumulation leads to monopoly. The same way black holes are a consequence of gravity.
However, you can't even articulate the difference between capital, profit, goods, and services, so I really don't think further discussion with you will yield fruit. Have a great day!
Yes, profit is definitionally money. Goods and services are not. The steel company can use the money they receive from selling the steel to invest in better machinery to refine more steel more cheaply so they can make more profit.
In capitalism, capital is wealth and assets used to generate more profit by producing goods or services.
@bfkrklklkr@voydboiii@wards_66 You do not understand the definition word profit then. Benefit does not equal profit. Both benefit. Only one profits. Profit is literally the financial gain in excess of the cost of the goods and labor to produce it in a transaction
As profit flows from consumers to producers, the means of production accumulate in the hands of market leaders, driving down unit cost while concentrating production and market advantage in the leader. Consumers can't find a better price elsewhere and as such engage in individual mutually beneficial exchanges that are not global beneficial over all exchanges because it stifles the ability for those with less capital to enter the market as producers. And as such, monopolies form.
This is why anti trust laws exist.
@atelicinvest Capitalism thrives on the delta between price and value. If you give something away for free, expect the market to pay that price exactly.
You don't "acquire" a monopoly. Left unchecked, they form. It's the conclusion of trade over many transactions where capital investment creates efficiency of production. It's the capital in capitalism.
In any game, a nash equilibrium can form that leads to suboptimal outcomes despite individual actions all making sense for the actors. Capitalism is no different.
Who is this we you're talking about? No one at any point said software was worthless and if they did, they are dumb. Anyone saying ai isn't even that useful isn't using in a profession where it matters.
The rest of the statements are all true in both the before and after.
The rest of the statements are
@bfkrklklkr@voydboiii@wards_66 You didn't prove that. The result of wealth accumulation is indeed monopoly. I'm not sure you understand what a monopoly. Wealth accumulation leads to consolidation of the means of production in the hands of a few.
In 35 years, top 1% went from 23% of wealth to 31%. Bottom 50% from 3.5% to 2.5%. Now also consider what % of that is disposable income.
In 35 years, the % owned by top 1% went up 33% (or 8 basis points) and bottom 50% went down 33% (or 1 basis point).
Wealth accumulates. It is a fact.
@joshhumble Yeah in that lab grown meat has some obvious upsides that get better over time and downsides that will get fixed over time and yet folks will just say "back in my day we killed the cows in factories by hand".
