🇺🇸🇷🇺 US-Senator und Ex-Astronaut Mark Kelly hat nach 15 Jahren Zusammenarbeit mit russischen Kosmonauten deren Prioritäten beschrieben – Missionserfolg kam an vierter Stelle.

Kelly sprach Ende Mai beim Black Sea Security Forum in Odesa.
Er kommandierte einst die ISS-Expedition 26, einige Kosmonauten nennt er bis heute gute Freunde.

Fünf Jahre habe er gebraucht, um zu verstehen, was sie antreibt.

Platz eins:
der Anschein, das Sagen zu haben – wichtiger als tatsächliche Kontrolle.

Platz zwei:
wissen, wem man die Schuld geben kann, wenn etwas schiefgeht. Im Kontrollzentrum bei Moskau gibt es dafür laut Kelly eine eigene Position – macht ein Kosmonaut einen Fehler, wird er dokumentiert und vom Gehalt abgezogen.

Platz drei, noch vor dem Missionserfolg:
"Was werde ich heute von meinem Arbeitgeber stehlen?"
Die Kosmonauten seien damit offen umgegangen – es gebe sogar ein russisches Sprichwort: Wer bei der Arbeit nichts mitgehen lässt,
hat den Tag vergeudet.

Moskau reagierte prompt: Außenamtssprecherin Sacharowa keilte zurück, die Kosmonauten hätten den USA nur "den Sieg im Weltraumrennen gestohlen".

Kelly erzählte das nicht als Anekdote, sondern als Erklärung – warum ihn das Versagen der russischen Armee in der Ukraine nicht überraschte.
Fassade vor Funktion, Schuldverschiebung vor Verantwortung, Selbstbedienung vor Auftrag:
Dieselbe Systemlogik, die Raumstationen verwaltet, führt auch Kriege.
Und sie verliert sie auf dieselbe Weise.

Celebrating National Moon Day! 🌕🚀

What an unforgettable and inspiring few days in Washington, D.C.

A heartfelt thank you to Blue Origin for the invitation to join everyone in our nation’s capital. It was a true privilege to reconnect with my incredible NS-26 crewmates, catch up with so many remarkable astronauts, and spend time with visionary leaders across the space industry. The conversations were thought-provoking, forward-looking, and a powerful reminder that we are witnessing one of the most exciting chapters in human history.

One of the highlights was an extraordinary private tour of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, which left me feeling completely exhilarated. Standing amongst the artefacts that chronicle humanity’s journey to the Moon was both humbling and deeply inspiring—a reminder that the impossible can become reality through courage, innovation and collaboration.

As commercial spaceflight continues to advance alongside the pioneering work of agencies such as NASA and ESA, a new era of lunar exploration is unfolding before our eyes. The Moon is no longer simply a monument to our past achievements—it is rapidly becoming the gateway to our future.

Having already experienced the privilege of travelling to space, I left Washington more inspired than ever. The momentum is undeniable, the opportunities are expanding, and I genuinely believe the next generation of lunar explorers will come from every corner of the globe.

The Moon is no longer just something we dream about.

It’s calling us back.

One giant leap for mankind

History was made on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11's Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first to set foot on the Moon.

For more than 5 decades, the total number of moonwalkers has remained at 12. NASA will change that with Artemis IV.

I get to spend part of my day, on the 57th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, with this American hero.

Apollo 11 CAPCOM. Apollo 16 moonwalker. NASA astronaut. Brigadier General Charlie Duke.
