🌿🔬How can we fix #CO2 more efficiently in biological systems? Our new study introduces the CORE cycle, a synthetic pathway that converts CO2 to formate at aerobic conditions and ambient CO2 levels! 🚀🦠 @erblabs@mpi_marburg https://t.co/y1a5Iu36k2
Groundbreaking work just dropped🔥.
@AriSatanowski and @marchal_dg engineered new-to-nature CO2 reduction at ambient conditions via ATP-driven cycles for CO2->formate in vivo.
All kinds of fancy experiments in here and a real seminal contribution to the field👏.
Excited to share a main project from my PhD, out now in @NatureComms! 📝
We've designed and brought to life the “CORE cycle” – a new-to-nature pathway that provides a novel route for biological CO2 capture 🦠🌱

This pathway could serve as a new entry point for carbon in photorespiration and synthetic autotrophy, opening avenues for improved photosynthesis and innovative carbon fixation strategies!
New research from GAIN4CROPS compares alternative pathways to photorespiration—a metabolic process that reduces plant efficiency & crop yields.
A key finding: Carbon-fixing pathways like TaCo are the most promising ones.

Paper alert! 🎉
Excited to share this collaboration from my PhD time @wethebarevenlab and @erblabs!
We built a new bridge in central metabolism, connecting acetyl-CoA and pyruvate via a novel, engineered pathway.
For some personal highlights, come along 🧵
