@ArthurShelbee @CF_Budge Cal and Stanford joined with all sports. For Sac State it's just football, four games a year. Doing so for all sports like basketball seems crazier. Or you'd have to be paid to do it.

@dakotaspike49 @UnnecRoughness @RossDellenger I think at least part of it is that UNR, Fresno st and San Jose st have historically benefited from the there being no FBS team in the Sacramento area. Especially Fresno and Reno. Sacramento is a much bigger market than both and they can be semi local.

Sac State was I-AA and Davis was division 2. It was basically a no win situation for Sac State because if they won it was expected and if they lost it extra bad.

I get that the FCS/FBS divide is more complicated though. However, until we hear otherwise Sac State's current plan is to be FCS independent.

@279NASCARFan @hornetsports As I see it, the main difference is that Sac State has to campaign for support and Davis can just decide to do it. I'm not saying Sac State campaigned well, but the communications have a functional difference.

@kylorEPH @JakeGadon_TV @SacHornetsFB @UCDfootball I guess my point is that with four games there is no season. And with no season, there is no team. Then it’s about restarting the program from scratch, which makes me nervous because FCS independent is not a viable route.
