Why is healthcare so expensive in America?
In the past few years, some hospital CEOs have seen their salaries increase by as much as 700 percent. Yes, you read that correctly.
Say it with me, Medicare for All.
CODAL, a new #singlecell analysis method by Cliff Meyer @cistromedb, Allen Lynch & Myles Brown, is a @NatureComms Editor's Highlight. CODAL uncovers cell state alterations caused by genetic perturbations, offering fresh insights into #cancer: https://t.co/b58nl8dm2g

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." –Justice Louis Brandeis
Between 2020-2022, U.S. billionaire wealth grew by $1.5 trillion. That’s more than $2 billion a day. It's not radical to tax the rich. It's radical to let a small group of oligarchs hoard that much wealth.
Chief Justice Roberts refused to testify in a hearing on Supreme Court ethics.
Thomas and Alito accepted luxury vacations from GOP megadonors.
Gorsuch sold property to the CEO of a law firm that argues cases before the Court.
Is it any wonder why Americans don’t trust SCOTUS?
Justice Thomas has failed time and again to disclose gifts, from trips on a billionaire donor’s yacht to a house for his mother. We need to see his full financial disclosure and we need to institute a judicial code of conduct. https://t.co/oAMvzq1buL
Thrilled to share our latest work out today @Nature . A collaborative effort with many great, super smart colleagues, especially @gryfyndor@hovestadt@vangalenlab : https://t.co/t0JdgOrJGw
Today marks 58 years since Griswold v. Connecticut recognized the constitutional right to contraception. As the extremist Supreme Court strips away Americans’ rights to bodily autonomy, we must pass my Right to Contraception Act and secure access to this essential care.
The Supreme Court is off the rails. Some ideas for reform:
1) Enact term limits
2) Enforce ethics standards
3) Require financial disclosures
4) Expand the court
5) Rotate justices
Enough is enough.
#ASCO23 - proud to say that we have more than 43K attendees and more than 7K abstracts were submitted this year. Thanks to the global oncology community for showing up to partner with patients.
My theme, “Partnering w patients, the cornerstone of clinical care and research” builds on my career of more than 30 yrs & resonates w many of the challenges in oncology today. The theme promotes the preeminence of the relationship btwn pts & the oncology clinician #ASCO23
Finally, The MASS Act will incentivize states to adopt gun-licensing laws like the ones we have in Massachusetts—giving us the lowest rate of gun violence in the country.
While I will support the bipartisan budget agreement, I’m deeply disappointed that it slashes @NIH funding by approx. $500M.
It’s shameful that Rs would insist on cuts to med research as part of this deal.
As a member of the Approps Committee, I'll work to reverse these cuts.
Thirteen years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.
Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.
Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.
Republicans are so concerned about the national debt that their estate tax repeal bill would give:
$1.8 trillion to billionaires
$88 billion to the Walton family
$72 billion to Elon Musk’s family
$46 billion to the Jeff Bezos family
$0 to 99.9% of families
Total hypocrisy!
