"From the urban and rural centers of the Amhara and Oromia Regions to Addis Ababa City and surroundings, the Amhara are being silenced, terrorized, and killed on the grounds of their identity." - @LemkinInstitute
The above statement is just one of the facts included in the recent genocide alert by the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention.
Ethnic Amharas have been targeted in Ethiopia for over 3 decades, and it got a lot worse both frequency and severity wise. Despite such a large scale and persistent targeting, the international community was kept in the dark due to lack of coverage, making raising awareness about it difficult for advocates who are trying to prevent more extreme genocidal events.
It is exactly because of this reason why the most recent alert by Lemkin institute can be considered a turning point, as tens of such predicted genocidal events for which alerts were issued by regionally focused advocates were previously ignored only for the events to take place as predicted causing the loss of thousand of lives and displacement of hundreds of thousands.
I do hope that news medias, mandated human rights organizations and all concerned bodies will take this alert seriously and deter the regime in Ethiopia from escalating the very alarming situation in Ethiopia. I am very thankful of @LemkinInstitute for this timely life saving alert.

Fano forces have taken control of a polling station and all associated election materials in Qey Amba Kebele, Gishe-Rabel Woreda, located in the Shewa sub-region of Amhara Region, on Ethiopia’s election day.
According to reports, the operation was carried out by the 25th Division of the 104th Corps under the AFNM Menelik Command. The force reportedly secured the polling station and surrounding area without resistance and subsequently entered discussions with local kebele leaders and representatives.
Video footage from the area shows local officials acknowledging and confirming that the polling station had come under Fano control. Sources indicate that all election materials at the site were seized during the takeover.
The development comes amid reports of ongoing clashes and disruptions across multiple parts of Amhara Region during the June 1 election, with Fano claiming operations across 100 fronts.
As the fraudulent election of Abiy Ahmed’s Prosperity Party government is being held, Fano is achieving many victories in the battles they have launched. Many members of the Ethiopian defense forces have been killed and taken captive.

Ethiopia’s “election” — a new low in the history of democracy. 50 million “registered voters” with no faces, no real names, no addresses. A phantom electorate — conjured by cadres, not citizens. And since ghosts cannot vote, cadres voted for them — stuffing ballot boxes before a single real voter arrived. The evidence is on video.
No registration. No competition. No election. No legitimacy.
Abiy did not win a vote. He manufactured one — and invented an entire people to cast it.
Now the AU faces its moment of truth — if any credibility remains. Will it certify this farce and bury its own relevance? Or will it finally stand with the people of Ethiopia rather than those who erase them? I am not hopeful! History is watching. @ymahmoudali@4thPresidentKE@antonioguterres@SecRubio@SenateForeign@HouseForeign@DicarloRosemary@EU_Commission@amnesty@hrw@TheEconomist@BBCWorld@AJEnglish

Ballots were cast like this by cadres across Ethiopia last night. I hope the African Union team was at such scenes to observe the process. They were filling the ballot box on the even the election before the polls opened.
“Widespread protests against the upcoming election occurred in Amhara in early April, repeating Fano narratives about the election being illegitimate amid a perceived ENDF war against Amhara.” ~ @criticalthreats
Ethiopia: Following an intensification of fighting on the eve of national elections, which Fano regard as a sham, the organisation has imposed comprehensive travel restrictions across the Amhara Region for the next few days, with the sole exception of ambulance services
