I want my laptop in the cloud! And many of them. So many get it wrong on one or more level. This is the list I want:
- It is a Linux machine
- I have root
- It is persistent
- It starts in seconds
- It is a strongly isolated sandbox
- I can create many of them
- I can SSH into it
- I can run Docker on it
- I can connect my IDE to it (VSCode/Zed Remote)
- It has a copy of multiple repos (not just one)
- I can checkpoint it instantly
- I can full snapshot it
- I can create a new one from a snapshot
- I can share a snapshot with my team
- It stops/hibernates when idle to save costs
- It supports hooks (pre/post-create, pre/post-stop)
- It uses extremely fast local NVMe
- It supports 32GB of RAM

Nice to have:
- It can expose a port with a domain name and cert
- It intelligently copies my local credentials to it
- It intelligently copies common config files from my home (dotfiles/dirs)
- It uses SSH agent forwarding instead of copying my keys
- It is programmable via API/SDK

@samlambert How did you preempt the VPC Origin outage? The only mitigation is to make internal ALBs public and point cloudfront at them. Did you have that playbook ready to go or something?

@MikeIsaac Every single company in the world that writes software is going to pay either Anthropic or OpenAI. If they told me next month Claude is $1000/mo we'd still pay it. This number is only going to go up.

@criticalurban @motorisms Too dangerous. Needs a license. Pricey. Biking in a protected path is pleasant and safer. E-bikes are a great compromise.

@criticalurban @motorisms It became a key part of my commute because of cheaply rentable ebikes (~30/mo). Hills mean nothing now. I fly a mile in about five minutes instead of 20 min walk.

@dradding @pabloantonio @stefanoscalia A lot of Alameda Point has, but the air strip section has not. It is owned by the VA and they have it as a nature preserve.

@mpopv Nearly all of the air strip part is still unfortunately owned by the federal government (The VA). They are the ones that turned it into a preserve. The whole thing should be cleaned up and turned into tons of housing! Or like 10 more Alamanac's.

@cramforce Nice. I think that means we have to run an NLB in front of RDS proxy right? It doesn't look like Privatelink supports RDS Proxy directly
