Some celebrate with a party, some celebrate with fireworks, this pilot is celebrating America’s semiquincentennial with a very special flight. #America250
Border device searches are not a scalable control against competent adversaries. They are a low-yield investigative dragnet that may catch careless offenders, but they do little against modern data movement and impose enormous privacy costs on ordinary travelers. At best, they are legacy institutional inertia; at worst, security theatre dressed up as child-protection or national-security policy.
Chuck Norris didn't join the Marine Corps...the Marine Corps applied to him.
Heaven’s streets have always been guarded by Marines. Today, Chuck Norris reported for duty.
We mourn the passing of Chuck Norris, a @usairforce veteran, who also became an honorary Marine in 2007 when awarded the title by then Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway.
Chuck Norris is one of just over 100 individuals to be awarded the title of Honorary Marine in the entire 250-year history of the Corps.
Some missions may require a battalion, but this one just requires an Honorary Marine.

Our ESA/Hubble Picture of the Week features a long-distance relationship 💞
This pair of galaxies (Arp 4) appear to be close companions: a small, bright spiral flitting around the edge of a much larger one with a dark and disturbed countenance. But looks can be deceiving… 1/2
That’s it?
This is what 45 years of spent nuclear fuel looks like safely stored at Dominion Energy’s North Anna nuclear power plant.
Each cask generated around 5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity — enough to power nearly half a million homes each year.
Our ESA/Hubble Picture of the Week sees galactic gas making a getaway ☁️💨
The spiral galaxy NGC 4388 is located about 60 million light-years away in the Virgo cluster. From Earth, it appears tilted at an extreme angle, giving us a nearly edge-on view of the galaxy. This reveals a glowing gas cloud billowing from the galaxy’s disc. 1/3
What does Webb and @NASAMars’ Curiosity Rover have in common?
They both help us explore worlds beyond Earth, teach us that great engineering feats are possible, and are both named in the 2025 TIME’s “Best Invention Hall of Fame”!

On December 14, 1972, the Apollo 17 lunar module "Challenger" departed the Moon with Harrison Schmitt and Gene Cernan, the last astronauts to walk on the Moon. LM liftoff was captured by a camera on the LRV that was left behind. More on how it was done: https://t.co/bjvXDMayPj
The Geminid meteor shower peaks this weekend, Dec. 13-14!
The meteors will be visible all night – just look to the eastern sky.
Under the darkest skies (and after allowing your eyes to adjust), you could see up to 120 Geminid meteors per hour.
Happy meteor-gazing!
Webb detected the strongest evidence yet for an atmosphere on a rocky planet outside of our solar system! Findings suggest ultra-hot super-Earth TOI-561 b is surrounded by a thick blanket of gases above a global magma ocean.

Florida concealed carry process is amazingly efficient, from start to finish in two weeks and they mailed it to me. They did the picture and finger prints at the same time, and kept the place open late for me (you have to pay with a check which like most people I don’t carry around my check book so I had to leave and come back).
