@Mspuddicombe I agree the quality of the voice, sound, and band is unmatched in live performances. Live bands have flare and differences from recordings but the standard has become that perfect recording. #W23POPMUS
@BrookeSlous I agree, living in NL, few artists come here to do live shows due to our small venues and population. It is expensive to fly and bring all the required equipment to put on a show. The accessibility of recording is sometimes the only option to listen to popular music. #W23POPMUS
#W23POPMUS I disagree with Wald's assessment. Live music is more enjoyable for a night out dancing with friends, there is soul, creativity, and personal flare in live performances. Autotune has made it challenging for live bands due to taps being perfect with crystal-clear sound.
@ryleemusic2011 Great tweet! Music plays an important role within cultural and the lack of credit to the original creates the impression of cultural theft #W23POPMUS
@Rpomeroy13 I agree and disagree. Many local artists have made a living covering music but the lack of recognition for the original is not fair. I enjoy covered version of songs better than the original but i do understand the importance recognizing the work of the writer #W23POPMUS
Value of music is determined by the listeners but the consideration of schlock is from the use of the music without paying respect to the original author. I feel the cultural theft is because the music is now targeting a new audience rather than its original. #W23POPMUS
@CassandraCareen#W23POPMUS I completely agree! When music provokes emotions, it tends to create a connection between the artist and the listener. Music can help people relate to situations present in their lives and help them relax and clear their minds.
@chboland1#W23POPMUS It's an interesting take on Ray Charles expressing vulnerability through his vocals and lyrics. It is interesting how lyrics have changed over the years from emotions and sentiments to expressing monetary value or references to status as I discussed in an earlier Tweet
#W23POPMUS I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice to sing outside his normal vocal range. This signifies grow as he expanding his vocal abilities. This isn’t a blues song but Kayne West’s Gold Digger won best rap song in ‘06 & is built around a sample of I got a Woman🤯
@Victoria21Haley I completely agree, their is an automatic impression portrayed when the item has a high price tag. Individuals should be less concerned with the product and more appreciative of others being able to listen to music when out and about #W23POPMUS
@samfollettnl@Bose I had a different take on this topic but I totally understand and see your perspective. Value of products are determined by the consumer, how they service the buyers need and not necessarily on perception or status. Maybe it is as simple as they like the product. #W23POPMUS
@burrysara1#W23POPMUS I agree completely, the difference between corded or cordless headphone is just an image the user wishes to display to their peers and not the quality of sound. In today society, it is astonishing to see people using corded headphones.
#W23POPMUS Recently Apple released AirPods Max headphones and I feel many Apple products are associated with class and high status. Those headphones sell for $800+ and I feel they do not enhance the listeners experience but displays an image of class the users wishes to project.
New popular music appeals to a passive audience as many listeners are not focused on the lyrics, but rather the tempo of the music for their enjoyment. Popular music creates false needs as lyrics discuss unrealistic actions, financial positions, and material items. #W23POPMUS
@burrysara1 I agree that popular music and media industries create the illusion of being perfect due to material possessions and social media presence. Despite those facts, I feel new popular music is ultimately for a passive audience as songs still require time and effort to create.
@jeffreyahodder Popular music definitely appeals to trend followers rather than a trendsetter. Many of these followers seek approval from their peers resulting in similar experiences without diversity within their group.
@ceflynn9 Well said physical activity plays a large role in my daily life as well as a huge mood booster. Sports and weight lifting is a place for me to relieve stress as well as a way to clear my mind to allow me to refocus on my studies.
After using mood checks, I realized the importance of my mental health which is something I never considered until enrolling in this course. As well days I spend with friends have a positive impact on my mood rather than days when I am alone studying. #HKR1000
@tippett_lauren I agree I will change the way I prepare my meals to receive all the proper nutrients I need for proper health. Despite cooking the majority of my vegetable, eating more raw vegetable will benefit myself greater. #HKR1000
After watching "Food Matters" I learned by cooking our foods we are removing some of the nutritional value, mostly the vitamins that are essential for our health. I also learned that 51% of our food must be raw vegetables to ensure we receive the proper nutrients. #HKR1000
