With bot traffic now surpassing human traffic on the web per Cloudflare, what peeps are not talking about is how devastating this has been to smaller pubs who are footing significantly higher bandwidth costs serving LLM scrapers and there is no easy way to block them all w/o consequence.
Caught-up w/ a data leader at a Fortune 50 company. She mentioned that her teams primary work now is spinning-up MCPs to enable data interrogations for different product teams as requested. So much of the work is less structuring the data layer as the team has ETL workflows in place but rather figuring out how to make it performant, cost-effective and appropriately guardrailed in an MCP context.
