TWO ASSAM RIFLES PERSONNEL KILLED IN AMBUSH:

Ukhrul, Manipur | July 6, 2026

Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar C.M. Singh of the 40 Assam Rifles, the latter reportedly serving as the driver, were killed today in an ambush at Nungshang Khong, Ukhrul District. The attack was carried out by NSCN-IM, a Tangkhul secessionist group identified as a narco-terrorist organization.

This community has obstructed the movement of Assam Rifles, the Indian Army, and paramilitary forces over the past five months. The Government of India must initiate stringent action against these Kacha Naga, Myanmar-based Tangkhul narco-terrorists, NSCN-IM.

An Act of War: Al-Qaeda-trained NSCN-IM's "Holy War" against India claims two Indian Army lives in deadly Ambush.

■In a brazen act of war, heavily armed NSCN-IM Terrorists ambushed an unsuspecting Assam Rifles convoy with IEDs at Lungshang Khong in Hungpung. Two Indian Soldiers were killed in action, making the supreme sacrifice while valiantly engaging the Terrorists.

■The site of the ambush is no coincidence.​ Hungpung is a vital operational nerve centre & regional stronghold of the NSCN-IM.
It was at Hungpung's Bakshi Ground that Th. Muivah first set foot & landed by helicopter, marking his dramatic return to Manipur after 50 years in exile before proceeding to his native village of Somdal during a highly publicized homecoming.

■The latest NSCN-IM's cowardly ambush on the Assam rifles comes just a day after the same Terrorists attacked Thingkhongjang village in broad daylight, which left an 8-year old girl & a 56-year-old mother critically injured.

■3 months earlier, the Manipur Police investigation definitively established that the NSCN-IM planned & executed the Kidnapping & Murder two kukis in march 2026, which was the precise flashpoint that escalated a drunken brawl to localized arson and sporadic skirmishes into one of retaliatory abductions & killings.

■The Ministry of Home Affairs (Counter Terrorism & Counter Radicalization Division) citing the specific involvement of the NSCN-IM, characterized the NSCN-IM as a "terrorist gang" & added that the Central Government is of the opinion that the NSCN-IM, a Terrorist gang perpetrated the attack with an intention to deliberately "Strike Terror & panic in the minds of people."

■The MHA issued an order declaring the incident a "Scheduled Offence" with "National Ramifications" & mandated the @NIA_India to assume full control of the investigation to uncover the broader conspiracy, thereby shifting the case of kidnapping & murder of Thengin & Thangboimang from a local law-and-order into the realm of national security & terrorism.

■In the wake of this brazen act of war & escalating cross-border terrorism, the Government of India must permanently terminate all peace negotiations with the NSCN-IM & formally re-designate it as a terrorist organization.

At least four people, including three church leaders and a driver, were reportedly killed in an alleged ambush by suspected armed militants in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.

According to police reports, the incident took place near Kotlen and Kotzim villages along the Imphal–Tamenglong route when members of the Thadou Baptist Association were travelling from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi after attending a conference.

The deceased were identified as Rev. Dr. V. Sitlhou, former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention, Rev. Kaigoulun, Pastor Paogoulen and driver Lelen. Several others were also reportedly injured in the attack.

Reports alleged the involvement of suspected members of the ZUF-Kamson faction and VBIGs, though no official confirmation has been issued regarding the groups’ role in the incident.

Meanwhile, organisations representing the Thadou community have called for a total shutdown across Sadar Hills in Kangpokpi district in protest against the killings. Police sources also stated that around ten members of the Liangmai Naga community were reportedly being held hostage, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Dallalmuon Gangte, S/o Late Lalkung Gangte, M/N Zami Gangte, is the eldest amongst 4 siblings. His mother used to sell vegetables at the Tribal Market, New Lambulane, to support the family. After the Meitei chased the Kuki-Zo Community out of Imphal in the ethnic conflict under @NBirenSingh, they moved to Mizoram and settled in Kolasib. His mother now works at a stone quarry to support the talented U-17 Indian Captain.
