"Lieutenant General Nauman's stance at the Shangri-La Dialogue represents the new reality of the region. Pakistan's effective response has buried India's dream of military superiority. Now, instead of the battlefield, India is spreading lies through fake photos, fake videos,
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's Message on International Day of UN Peacekeepers, 29 May 2026.
Today, Pakistan joins the international community in paying rich tribute to the brave men and women serving under the United Nations flag on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
Observed annually across the world, this day recognizes the invaluable services and sacrifices rendered by military, police, and civilian peacekeepers deployed in conflict-affected regions in pursuit of global peace and security.
This year’s observance is being commemorated under the theme, “Invest in Peace”, which underscores the critical importance of sustained political commitment and financial support for the promotion of durable peace and the protection of human lives worldwide.
The day also commemorates the establishment of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), the first-ever UN peacekeeping mission, which commenced operations in Palestine in 1948.
Over the course of peacekeeping history, more than two million men and women have served in over seventy UN peace missions around the world. Pakistan remains among the longest-serving and leading contributors to United Nations peacekeeping operations. Through their dedicated service, troop-contributing countries continue to play a vital role in the maintenance of international peace and security, reflecting our collective commitment to peace as a shared global priority.
Since 1960, Pakistan has contributed more than 235,000 personnel to over 48 UN peacekeeping missions, including more than 500 women peacekeepers. It is a matter of immense national pride that Pakistan today stands as the fifth-largest contributor to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The courageous peacekeepers serving across the globe have made extraordinary sacrifices in the service of humanity and global stability. The unwavering dedication of UN peacekeepers to peace is exemplified by the ultimate sacrifice made by more than 4,400 personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including over 181 Pakistani peacekeepers.
Pakistan takes immense pride in its martyrs and in all those brave sons and daughters who continue to serve with exceptional professionalism, commitment, and resolve in promoting peace, stability, and the protection of vulnerable communities across different regions of the world.
Pakistan reiterates its steadfast commitment to further strengthening global peace efforts through active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions. Our continued contribution reflects Pakistan’s enduring commitment to international peace and security, as well as to the principles of multilateralism.
Pakistan and China stand united in support of just and inclusive global governance architecture, anchored in international law, with the United Nations at its core. Pakistan-China friendship is guided by the strategic vision of our leadership and aspirations of our peoples and has grown from strength to strength through decades of mutual trust and respect, bilateral support and commonality of views on major world issues. Pakistan deeply values China’s role as a stabilizing force in international affairs and appreciates its consistent support for the sovereignty, development, and prosperity of developing nations.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, visited Zhob District, Balochistan to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with frontline troops deployed along the Western frontiers.
The visit commenced with Eid prayers along with special supplications for Pakistan’s enduring peace, stability and prosperity and for the Shuhada, who rendered the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the motherland.
Extending Eid greetings to officers and soldiers, the Field Marshal commended their exceptional grit, unwavering resolve, operational preparedness and steadfast vigilance amid foreign-sponsored terrorism. He paid rich tribute to the troops for their unmatched courage and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation against the menace of terrorism and hostile threats sponsored by inimical forces.
Referring to the recent cowardly terrorist incident in Quetta orchestrated by Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Hindustan and its proxies, the Field Marshal reaffirmed that such inhuman and brutal acts cannot weaken the resolve of Pakistan Armed Forces or the nation. He emphasized that the morale and resolve of troops and the people of Pakistan remained unshaken. He reiterated that the Armed Forces, in close coordination with law enforcement agencies and the people of Balochistan, would continue to pursue all facilitators, abettors and perpetrators of terrorism with full force.
Upon arrival, the Field Marshal was received by Commander Quetta Corps. The Field Marshal also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and paid homage to the brave sons of the soil who embraced Shahadat in defence of the motherland.

On the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah.
This sacred occasion reminds us of the timeless values of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and selflessness embodied by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
Let us remember the underprivileged around us, share the joys of Eid with those in need, and reaffirm our commitment to unity, brotherhood, and service to humanity.
We also stand in unwavering solidarity with our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

I reaffirmed that the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
I thanked President Xi Jinping for China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sincere peace efforts and greatly appreciated his visionary four-point proposal for regional peace and stability.
We discussed further deepening strategic coordination, advancing high-quality CPEC development, and expanding cooperation in industry, agriculture, science and technology, clean energy, digital transformation, and space cooperation.
I also appreciated President Xi Jinping’s landmark global initiatives, which continue to promote peace, development, and shared prosperity across the world.
Pakistan-China friendship remains a powerful force for peace, stability, and shared prosperity in an evolving world.

Every grain of Himalayan pink salt sold in the world comes from one place.
Pakistan.
Specifically from a mine in Punjab that was discovered 2,350 years ago when Alexander the Great's horses started licking rocks during a rest stop.
Khewra Salt Mine. The second largest salt mine on earth. Its deposits formed 540 to 800 million years ago when a prehistoric sea evaporated inside what would become the mountains of Pakistan.
Alexander's army was marching through in 326 BC. The horses stopped and licked the ground. The soldiers tasted the rocks. Salt.
The greatest accidental discovery in the history of food.
The Mughals mined it. The Sikhs refined it. The British modernised it in 1872 building tunnels still in use today.
Today it stretches 110 square kilometres. 12 stories. 6 underground. 6.687 billion tons of salt reserves remaining. Producing 350,000 tons every year.
Inside its tunnels craftsmen have carved a mosque from salt bricks that still holds prayers. A replica of the Great Wall of China in pink salt. A glowing crystal Sheesh Mahal chamber. An underground lake that reflects pink light off salt walls.
250,000 visitors every year walk through mountains that have been slowly becoming the world's most famous salt for 800 million years.
All of it in Pakistan.
Discovered by a horse.
Used by the world.
Pakistan. 🇵🇰
The core problem with @dhume Sadanand Dhume’s piece is that it begins with a conclusion: Pakistan cannot be trusted, and then cherry-picks every familiar Washington trope to sustain that conclusion. The title asks, “Why would anyone trust Pakistan to mediate with Iran?” But the more serious question is: why would anyone confuse mediation with moral endorsement?
The article’s central sleight of hand is to treat Pakistan’s independent interests as disqualification. Seriously? Every mediator has interests. Qatar has interests. Oman has interests. Switzerland has interests. Turkey has interests. Even the United States, when it mediates, is not interest-free. The question is not whether Pakistan has interests. The question is whether those interests create enough leverage and access to keep channels open. On that test, Pakistan clearly matters. Live with it.
The article’s most revealing line is the claim that Pakistan is “clearly on Team Iran.” Grow up. Pakistan is on “Team Don’t Let the Region Burn.” It shares a border with Iran. It has a significant Shia population. It has deep economic exposure to the Gulf. It depends on remittances, energy flows, and regional stability. It has ties with Saudi Arabia, China, the United States, and Iran. That is geography. Go back to school, SD.
The most intellectually dishonest move in the article is the suggestion that if the U.S. and Israel “permanently denuclearize Iran,” it would create an uncomfortable precedent for Pakistan. This is a loaded formulation. Pakistan is not Iran. Pakistan is an overt nuclear weapons state with an established command-and-control structure, a declared strategic rationale rooted in a conventional imbalance with India, and decades of crisis management under nuclear conditions. Iran is a non-nuclear weapon state under the NPT accused of violating nuclear obligations. How did this guy even graduate without learning the basics?
And yes, while we are at it, let us throw in AQ Khan too, because apparently no article on Pakistan can be complete until that one familiar poster is pulled off the wall.
The move is predictable: when the current argument is thin, drag in AQ Khan, Afghanistan, al Qaeda, China, Iran and everything else that can darken the frame.
The article does not prove that Pakistan is an unreliable mediator. It proves that some Washington commentators remain unable to analyze Pakistan outside the exhausted grammar of suspicion.
@WSJ A more serious article would have asked: What channels does Pakistan actually control? What messages can it credibly transmit? What incentives does it have to prevent escalation? How do its ties with Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, and the U.S. create both constraints and opportunities?
If this is the quality of strategic commentary shaping elite opinion, then the problem is not Pakistan’s mediation, Folks. The problem is that serious diplomacy is being judged through recycled talking points and geopolitical hangovers. Unsubscribe @WSJ for such a waste of time.
55 years ago, Pakistan did the unthinkable at the time, got China and US together in 1971 by using its offices -- 55 years later in 2026, Pakistan once again is doing the unthinkable at the time, got Iran and US to agree for an agreement -- Islamabad role for regional peace and beyond is a reality.
Pakistani astronauts arrive in China, and were hosted at the Pakistani embassy in Beijing.
Interestingly the Pakistani ambassador to China has a model of a J-35A in his office (Pakistan intends to procure the Chinese stealth fighter).
