Heartbroken but relieved Joshua Loitu Mollel has been returned to Israel after 761 days in Hamas captivity. 💔
🇮🇱🫶🏽🇹🇿 While Joshua wasn’t an Israeli citizen, over the past 2 years we Israelis adopted him into our hearts. While he will still travel home to his family in Tanazania, we feel like one of our own is back 🇮🇱🫶🏽🇹🇿
Joshua, 21, an agricultural intern from Tanzania, came to Kibbutz Nahal Oz to learn modern farming and one day start his own agricultural business back home.
Kind, polite and hardworking, he embodied hope and curiosity on his very first trip abroad.
Just two and a half weeks after arriving in Israel, Hamas terrorists attacked. Joshua was kidnapped and later murdered in Gaza - his dreams and his family’s hopes stolen in an instant.
After 761 days, Joshua’s body has been returned to Israel - for the dignified farewell he was denied for far too long.
May his memory be a blessing. 🕯️
On June 7th, MSF participated in the Community Health Festival at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, organized by the College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka. We were joined by the Minister of Health, the Secretary of Health, and community members, and we spent the day raising awareness about MSF's work across South Asia.
Our booth featured activities that focused on crucial topics, such as antimicrobial resistance and MSF's Global Health and Humanitarian work, and provided an opportunity for medical professionals to register for our international talent pool. This event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local communities and share insights into our humanitarian efforts.
We look forward to more activities like this to strengthen community engagement and foster collaboration.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is actively supporting the response to an outbreak of Marburg virus in Tanzania's Kagera region, which is being led by the Ministry of Health. The outbreak was declared by Tanzanian authorities on 20 January 2025.
Working alongside the Ministry of Health and other partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), an MSF team with experience responding to epidemics is in Kagera region to strengthen the local response capacity. We are providing trainings and essential protective and medical equipment to frontline healthcare staff.

Most of his students may fondly recall his famous "mbuzi" metaphor. Was it merely a harsh word? 🤔
Others may remember how he seamlessly wove biblical verses, instilling faith alongside academic rigor.
