@English_Tchr101 Q6: Students are very vocal about issues that matter to them. They are honest and open almost to a fault. Teachers have so many resources at school and online to hopefully be able to address some of these issues and show that they matter. #DLT21_DT3
@English_Tchr101 Q5: Teachers are creatures of habit and time is precious. It is very easy to do what you have done in the past because it is familiar. Hopefully teachers are tweaking lessons to make them more effective and giving students a voice and a choice. #DLT21_DT3
@English_Tchr101 Q1: Students should have input into which books they are reading and why that book is relevant to them. If students are reading the same book then they should have control over how they reflect...reading log, drawing pictures, etc. #DLT21_DT3
@FRESL1brary@English_Tchr101 I like that students are sharing their reflections with others. Many times we are affected by what we read but may never share with someone "why".
@English_Tchr101@KyleneBeers@BobProbst A1: I think the BHH framework makes a lot of sense. As a teacher, you choose books that are academically appropriate but also trying to grab students attention and give them a reason to read, learn, and care.
@English_Tchr101@KyleneBeers@BobProbst A2: I think it is very important for students to think about how text is changing them. It may inspire them to do something they only dreamed of doing. I love to read books with my students that I have read when I was younger and share how it affected me.
@English_Tchr101@KyleneBeers@BobProbst A4:Students like adults get their "opinions" from a lot of different outlets today. It is okay for them to have their opinions but the BHH framework makes them explore where that opinion came form and exposes them to the opinions of others. #PCPSCHATDT2
@English_Tchr101 A5:I think the more students read about real issues and people they can relate to the reality of how life works...good and bad.I def think it makes they more compassionate and inspired to act.Biographies of young people that overcome hardships and thrive. #PCPSChatDT
@English_Tchr101 A4:Students believe what they read online. They may have an opinion based on a one-sided explanation. I try to have an open mind but hard when a student has an opinion that you know if not accurate. Students are taught how to search for good resources on the internet.#PCPSChatDT
@English_Tchr101 A3: Giving students a variety of choices to express their opinions and thoughts about what they are reading. Making it okay for students to disagree and discuss those differences in a healty way.#PCPSChatDT
@English_Tchr101 A2:If reading is less valued in the future, creativity, imagination, and originality will suffer. I also think our future leaders attention span will be much much shorter.#PCPSChatDT
@English_Tchr101 A1:For students that are not the most excited about reading, I chose books with characters and situations that they could relate to. I didn't directly ask this question but the students would discuss how they would react if they were in the same scenerio.#PCPSChatDT
