just for perspective: Covid in the US has a death rate of ~2.35% (2.3E5/10.1E6; source JHU).
So (this is not exactly higher math) accepting >100000 new infections per day means being OK with well over 2000 deaths per day in about 2-3 weeks (more if hospitals can't cope anymore).
