Nimbalyst is the agent-native visual workspace for builders. Maximize speed, bandwidth, context with Codex & Claude Code visually in files, sessions, & tasks
Today we're open sourcing Nimbalyst, the visual workspace for building with Codex, Claude Code, and more.
Visual editors for markdown, mockups, diagrams, diffs, and code. Codex, Claude Code, Opencode in parallel with kanban. Extensions. iOS for remote.
As we built our software with coding agents, we're building two products at the same time. The product we are shipping to our users and the harness around the model and coding agents that enable our agents to work well.
Claude Code is a harness. Codex is a harness. We own the harness layer above the coding agents.
We arrived at eight parts of that layer the hard way. Each one came from a failure mode we kept hitting until we built the thing that fixed it.
I'm going to go through the process of shipping one small feature in the next four minutes, and we'll see all eight parts light up. The feature: hover a tag chip on my kanban, and the tooltip shows how many items use that tag. Watch what the harness does for us along the way.
Been trying out Claude Code UIs - @nimbalyst has just the right amount of bells and whistles (if a little buggy)
An option to list Projects as tabs at the top would bump this to A-tier
Had a blast speaking yesterday at #ViennaUP on “Things the agents got hilariously wrong” 😂 Great crowd and energy! Full talk here if you’re curious: https://t.co/20WAEi8Kst Thanks to everyone who came by! @viennaup @BybitEU@nimbalyst
@bcherny Can you clarify what counts as an IDE in the Agent SDK policy update from May 17, 2026?
If @nimbalyst is an AI IDE for interactive (not programmatic) Claude Code, does it use the subscription or the SDK credit?
Do IDEs like Zed and Conductor qualify too, or are only IDEs with Anthropic-built plugins covered?
@karpathy This is the thesis behind @nimbalyst. High bandwidth agent-native visual editors for markdown, mockups, diagrams, datamodels, and more. Embed the other formats into markdown. Humans iterate with agents, see the agents changes in red/green diffs, approve, review.
In prep for BosTech Week, join our "From Zero to Extension: Build Your Own Agentic Workspace" hackathon co-hosted with @Nimbalyst at @PillarVC!
In 90 minutes, you'll plan, build, and deploy your own extension for an agentic workspace powered by Claude Code and Codex.
Not a demo. Not a tutorial. Something you could actually use at work. Details below:

If the VS Code interface has intimidated you, try this visual workspace.
I've been testing this for a few days. Loved the markdown files that actually render without plugins, and navigating between documents.
Sessions as cards on a Kanban board. Backlog, planning, implementing, done.
Plus a native iOS app (their custom remote control). Works with your Claude Pro/Max/Team subscription, not just API keys, and Codex.
A wrapper. Harness works as before.
