There is no food left at the shelter.

I fought to keep them fed. I rescued them from the streets, gave them shelter, and kept going even when things became incredibly difficult.

But today, I have reached the point I was desperately trying to avoid.

Luna and her four babies.
Kushi & Ruby.
And every rescued cat in our shelter.

They are all depending on me for their next meal.

Sadly, donations have been very low, and we haven’t even reached the first half of what we need.

I need to reach that first half so I can go to our food supplier, negotiate as I always do, and get enough food to carry us through September.

Then, at the beginning of September, we can work together toward the remaining half. 🙏

Island hat abgestimmt – und Brüssel eine klare Grenze gesetzt.

52,8 Prozent der Isländer wollen die seit Jahren ruhenden EU-Beitrittsverhandlungen nicht wieder aufnehmen. Die Stimmbeteiligung lag bei 82,5 Prozent.

Der Konflikt ist eindeutig: Island ist wirtschaftlich eng mit Europa verbunden, Mitglied des EWR und hat Zugang zum EU-Binnenmarkt. Gleichzeitig will eine Mehrheit zentrale nationale Kompetenzen nicht nach Brüssel verschieben.

Besonders sensibel ist die Fischerei. Sie macht rund einen Achtel der isländischen Wirtschaftsleistung aus. Gemeinsame Quoten, Zugang zu Gewässern und EU-Regeln würden genau dort eingreifen, wo Island seine eigene Kontrolle behalten will.

Auch finanziell wäre ein EU-Beitritt für das kleine, wohlhabende Land wenig attraktiv: Island wäre voraussichtlich Nettozahler und hätte mit rund 400’000 Einwohnern innerhalb einer Union mit 450 Millionen Menschen nur sehr begrenztes politisches Gewicht.

Für die Schweiz ist das relevant.
Kleine Staaten können wirtschaftlich eng mit der EU verflochten sein und trotzdem bei politischer Integration eine Grenze ziehen. Entscheidend ist, welche Kompetenzen sie bereit sind abzugeben – und welche sie selbst behalten wollen.

Island hat diese Frage beantwortet.

Wir sind fassungslos, traurig und wütend.
Tommy hatte bereits so viel hinter sich. Er wurde ausgesetzt, anschließend von uns medizinisch versorgt – und schließlich durfte er in ein liebevolles Zuhause ziehen. Wir waren so froh, dass er endlich angekommen war und ein Zuhause gefunden hatte, in dem er geliebt wurde.
Und jetzt diese schreckliche Nachricht: Tommy ist tot.
Alles deutet darauf hin, dass Tommy mutwillig von einem oder mehreren Menschen misshandelt wurde und daran gestorben ist.
Geschehen ist es im Bereich der Westkotterstraße.
Wir können und wollen das nicht einfach hinnehmen. Deshalb suchen wir dringend nach Zeuginnen und Zeugen.
Habt ihr etwas gesehen oder gehört? Ist euch etwas Ungewöhnliches aufgefallen? Vielleicht habt ihr eine Beobachtung gemacht, die euch zunächst unwichtig erschien – jeder Hinweis kann helfen.

Soy un gatito de casa, muy cariñoso. Y como a todos los gatitos de casa a los que nos abandonan en una colonia... Tengo los días contados.

Más siendo blanquito, con el sol lo más probable es que más pronto que tarde acabe desarrollando un carcinoma.

El resto de gatos de la colonia me pegan. No me dejan comer y no tengo un sitio seguro en el que descansar. Vivo alerta 24/7 y me está pasando factura. Yo era blanquito, estaba limpio y gordito y me estoy quedando raquítico. Ya no tengo fuerzas ni para acicalarme. Estoy tan triste que me estoy dejando morir.

No tengo ningún problema de salud. Estoy testado negativo y tengo mis vacunas, estoy esterilizado. Mi único problema es esta tristeza. La tristeza de seguir esperando a la familia a la que tanto quise y que no regresa a por mi.

Necesito un hogar en el que descansar, un hogar que me devuelva las ganas de vivir, de comer y de acicalarme. Soy muy cariñoso y aquí solo recibo zarpazos, no caricias.

Estoy en Murcia pero puedo viajar.
