@EddieComeaux@KingJames@HBO@USATODAY I like how this documentary will discuss the problems of the NCAA and include individuals who are experiencing or experienced being college athletes. I believe this sort of exposure to mainstream audiences will help to potentially solve the issues going on #Athletics
@conniez97 @dcmireles I agree with you. It is very important for college athletes, with their busy schedules, to have further guidance transitioning smoothly into their chosen career after sports. #UCR50
With the busy lives of college athletes it is important for them to have helpful programs to prepare them for their lives after college sports. This preparation is necessary to help them in their next transition into "the real world".

@Maarcelaa98 @dcmireles I agree with what you've said. It doesn't seem fair that the organization gains so much from athletes when athletes receive little benefits. I wonder if student-athletes will get more benefits in the future if the NCAA would even allow for it #UCR50
@chloedjenkins @dcmireles The NCAA is now generated near a billon dollars worth of yearly revnue because of student-athletes. It doesn’t feel right that while they profit players can’t partake in an incentives. I wonder if this could change in the future. #UCR50
It seems odd that student-athletes have so many rules over using their names, etc when they are suppose to be amateur players. The rules are quite limiting and can effect students negatively in their day to day lives. #UCR50 @dcmireles
@Jhuiz007 @dcmireles I agree with what you have said. I have always noticed that womens sports do not seem as popular as mens sports and do not receive as much media attention. I wonder what will be done to popularize it, both by athletes and organizations. #UCR50
Title IX is very helpful to students specifically in athletics. It's crazy to realize how equality within sports was not near what it is today in the recent decades, yet we still have much to improve. @dcmireles https://t.co/OuXgm3zsD9 #UCR50
@jajasmine_98 @dcmireles I agree with what you have said. College offers many opportunities, but how is it that they don't seem to be as prevalent for minorities specifically in sports? I believe schools know of this issue, but I wonder what they will do to fix the issue.
This article brings up the unsettling fact that many African American athletes make money for "white executives and are banned from any source of personal income". Is this coincidental or indention? Why isn't this really discussed? https://t.co/ZGxgdeuzfY #UCR50 @dcmireles
@_arlenetellez @dcmireles I think this would be useful and would greatly help athletes. Just as athletes get physical check ups they should get mental check ups as well because they are just as important. #UCR50
It's sad that student-athletes aren't being supported in their academic endeavors. All this does to athletes is addsmore stress to their hectic lives trying to balance their academic goals with their athletic ones. https://t.co/jnJTBY2Sg0 #ucr50 @dcmireles
@Michaelblake_ @dcmireles I agree with you and I really like the meme you added. With all that athletes are required to do there is little time left for them to gain a true college experience and branch out socially.
Many student-athletes practice 40 hrs a week (over the max). With classes that's around 52 hrs, then there's studying and going to games. They sacrifice lots of time with little in return, since pay for play is still not a reality. #UCR50 @dcmireles
@hyoon012 @dcmireles I personally don't think these coaches should be paid this much. I think it's excessive and the money could go towards the athletic programs themselves or something else. Also, I don't think their high pay will directly help players, and therefore is unnecessary.#UCR50
So, the new Tax and Jobs Act from last year gets rid of donations being tax deductible. I wondered if this would change anything, but apparently the biggest change maybe coaches will get "$6.5 million instead of $7 million a year.” @dcmireles

@Maarcelaa98 @dcmireles I agree with you on this. I understand supporting the athletic departments, but not at the expense of other departments being underfunded. Also, it doesn't seem fair that other students tuition would rise so much for something that they may not be a part of.#UCR50
Prior to reading the chapters, I didn't really realize how much of a business the NCAA is and it feels sort of weird how athletes aren't paid. I thought this quote from a coach on the subject was interesting considering their own salary is so high. #UCR50 @dcmireles
I agree with Turkle's argument in her essay. People rely so much on technology to communicate now and don't talk as much in person. I liked how she added possible solutions to this by creating technology free spaces. #1B64
