Noise pollution from planes, railways, roads & industry is a #publichealth issue. It causes mortality, #sleep deprivation, child dev probs & #health inequality
https://t.co/DnaRQDPxnV The appeal of zero tailpipe emissions and replacing fossil fuel with electrons has made EV adoption an essential objective for fighting climate change while reducing oil consumption, and pollution. Australia’s EV industry is rising to meet the challenge
@GregMcgarvie Yes, electric vehicles produce less noise pollution but above 30mph most vehicle noise pollution comes from tires on road. Solution: drive below 30mph in noise sensitive locations?
@BastionProp@StirlingCouncil
Emergency vehicles are mostly held up by traffic congestion.❌
Cycle lanes 🚴♂️ enable multiple benefits:
Less pollution & noise ✅
Less Carbon & climate change✅
Less congestion✅
Healthier lifestyles✅
Less collision injury ✅

Reclaiming the centre of Oxford by pedestrianisation and marked cycle tracks would increase footfall; support local businesses; decrease traffic noise and air pollution; be better for tourists and residents; make our City far more child friendly.
Noise pollution is more than a nuisance. Excessive loud noise can impact the surrounding environment. But what can be done about it? Can new @100tmln cities remove noise? #noisepollution
@Pixil8 Your environmental health dept cannot say they're 'good on dust' but don't do noise. Dust and noise are listed (along with other pollutants) in the same EPA legislation. It is not their choice, it is a legal responsibility. Suggest you copy EPA section & send it to them.
@Pixil8
The local Council can act by declaring it a
Statutory nuisance as defined in section 79 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA 1990) where the noise pollution from the premises are deemed prejudicial to health or a nuisance.
RT @SimonvBaal: @EliTurnerr @leadingmobility No cars, no pollution, shortcuts for PT and people who choose to cycle. Also a ‘green tramway’ which adds green space, reduces noise and vibration pollution. Hope that helps.
@MitchellBroadb3@cutnoise@halhaines@drewsnx The practical way to address the noise pollution caused by cars is to restrict then in ALL populated areas. Using 700+kg of metal & plastic to transport a 50-80kg human is inefficient, unnecessary & polluting.
@waccamatt @dpakman Quietly leaves them in the dust... LOL 🤣
I'm starting to really like electric vehicles, noise pollution is going down and when I'm walking down the street with my kids we don't have to smell the fossil fuel emissions.
I like that quite a bit.
@noiselimits Typically Acrylic gives 30plus dB reduction in lab. Different but more real world In situ around 13 dB for SmogStop. Timber 4 to 6 dB plus insitu degrading with drying out and opening up over time. Down to density with some materials but SmogStop has high perfromance.
@SmogStopUK Interesting to know how much dBA sound reduction the barriers achieve. #noisepollution
