SEPARATING FACTS VS FICTIONS

1.NIGERIA EROSIONS AND WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME [NEWMAP] 2013....

The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) is a World Bank-assisted government initiative designed to reduce vulnerability to soil erosion and land degradation in targeted areas across Nigeria.

This financing Request for this Erosions and Watershed Management Intervention NEWMAP was initiated through a direct diplomatic and executive appeal from the Federal Government of Nigeria to the World Bank.

The project was formally set in motion in 2010 when the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, issued a direct request for assistance to the World Bank Nigeria office. The appeal asked for strategic and financial support to address the severe crisis of gully erosion destroying infrastructure in Southeastern Nigeria, alongside growing land degradation and environmental insecurity in Northern Nigeria

But, the first disbursement and allocations happened in 2013

Anambra was one of the first 7 states selected, and eventually about 23 states benefited from the intervention.

FINANCIND TERMS

The INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION, [IDA ] which is the World Bank’s wing for low-income countries provided the funding.

TOTAL CREDIT ALLOCATION TO NIGERIA was $500million [,Anambra state got $37m allocation],

Interest Rate: ZERO % ....The base loan itself is interest-free.

Service Charge: 0.75% per annum charged on the disbursed and outstanding credit balance.

Commitment Fee: A variable rate between 0% and 0.5% charged only on any undisbursed balance.

Tenor: Concessional repayment terms extending up to 35 to 40 years.

Moratorium: 10-year grace period before principal repayments began. ( Anambra only started repaying this in 2023.]

PROJECTS FUNDS DISBURSMENTS;

Kindly note that the first DISBURSMENTS of USD$4m of this funds was triggered in June 26, 2014. To legally trigger this initial World Bank disbursement, the Anambra State government deposited its first major ₦500 million counterpart fund.

The other DISBURSMENTS happened between 2015 to 2021...

All the USD37m DISBURSMENTS happened under supervision of Willie Obiano, the political godfather of the OJIONU...

CURRENT EROSION STATE OF ANAMBRA STATE .

Anambra State today, has over 1,000 active gully erosion sites, making it the most erosion-ravaged state in Nigeria and frequently described by local officials as the "erosion capital of Africa".

The scale of the destruction is severe, with active gullies now affecting 146 out of the 179 communities in the state. This environmental crisis has eaten up more than 30% of Anambra’s total landmass.

To completely control and remediate all 1,000 plus active erosion sites in Anambra state, it is estimated that hundreds of billions of Naira (over $1 billion USD) would be required.

If Soludo says he “didn’t see the money” Peter Obi says he left behind, then as Governor, the obvious question is: did you check the accounts or are you just checking Twitter?

Peter Obi has identified the First Bank account and even offered to provide the account number. So, Soludo, instead of releasing another 10-page press release that nobody asked for, request the bank statement, publish it and let Nigerians see the evidence. Simple.

Because at this point, the drama is beginning to look less like an audit and more like a personal vendetta.

Peter Obi defeated Soludo in the 2010 Anambra governorship race, and today Obi is again a major political rival ahead of 2027. Soludo is entitled to his political views, but Nigerians are also entitled to ask for documents, bank statements and verifiable figures, not endless political sparring.

If the money wasn't there, show the statement.

If the money was there, show what happened to it. Afterall, EFCC is dragging Obiano who took over from Peter Obi.

Mr. Wike,

You have finally said something I can agree with. You told the nation that your biggest fear is President Tinubu losing next year's election, and that whoever wins — Peter Obi or Atiku — will come for you first. You said, in your own words, "I know they will come for my head."

Let me assure you, Mr. Wike: your instincts are correct. And let me tell you why.

I, Kio Amachree, am doing everything within my power, and using every connection I have, to make certain that the man you have tied your fortunes to never sees a second term. I have written to President Trump. I have written to Secretary Kennedy, with whom my family's history is intertwined. I have written to FBI Director Kash Patel. I have written to the Prince of Wales, to Boris Johnson, to Lord Cameron — my old school connections put to the service of Nigeria. In 1993, the United States government seized $460,000 from accounts linked to Bola Tinubu as proceeds connected to heroin trafficking — Case No. 93 C 4483, Northern District of Illinois. That is not gossip. That is a court record. On August 28, 2026, the FBI confirmed under sworn declaration that it carried out an investigation into his activities. And on that very same day, your principal filed papers fighting to keep those records sealed.

Ask yourself the question every Nigerian is now asking, Mr. Wike: who fights this hard to hide files if the files contain nothing? An innocent man demands his records be published. A compromised man hires American lawyers to bury them.

You say you think about the President's re-election when you sleep and when you eat. While you were thinking, your principal is spending three weeks on holiday in Europe as the case closed in around him, and no photograph with the American President materialised. The man you serve is fighting a rearguard action in a foreign courtroom, and even his loudest defenders are lowering their voices. You have chained yourself to a sinking anchor and you are only now noticing the water.

And a word about Rivers State, Mr. Wike, because this is personal to my family's legacy even if it is not personal to you. My father, Chief Godfrey Kio Jaja Amachree QC, was among the founding fathers of Rivers State — Nigeria's first Solicitor-General, the first African Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations. On his grave and on my ancestors I make you this promise: the accountability that is coming for your principal will not stop at your principal. The emergency rule, the billions, the arrogance — all of it will be examined lawfully, openly, and without fear. Not mob justice. Épuration légale. Courts, records, questions, answers.

So yes, Mr. Wike. Be afraid. Not of assassins — nobody wants your head. Be afraid of something far worse for men like you: due process.

You wanted a fight. Let's tango.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) and his associates are, as expected, spreading stories and documents to cloud the matter. For example, the letter below is alleged by President Tinubu’s associate (@renoomokri) to be from the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria (@USinNigeria). If authentic, given the @FBI’s recent admission, it raises questions about whether a U.S. agency provided inaccurate information.

But a close examination raises questions about the letter’s authenticity. It contains glaring spelling and grammatical errors: “czheck” instead of “check,” “maitatins” instead of “maintains,” and “it’s territories” instead of “its territories.” It also states, “The result of the checks were negative,” instead of “The result of the checks was negative,” uses the incomplete phrase “nor information of your department,” and says “contact me direct” instead of “contact me directly.”

Given these errors, we find it very difficult to accept this letter as authentic without independent verification. Dear President #Tinubu and associates: if this document is not authentic, presenting a fabricated document as an official U.S. government communication is a serious matter and may have legal consequences under U.S. law.
