@ShriramKMurthi@lreyzin I think I remember the assassination of Indira Gandhi - I was very young then. I only remember the Berlin Wall because of Roger Waters' wall concert with an all-star cast ☺️
Hi, we're Threadlocked, a small collective of young researchers and hackers scattered across India and APAC.
We're sick of watching an entire generation mistake salary packages and credentials for the pursuit of computer science itself.
We're looking for curious hackers and researchers who still dare to take the road less traveled by treating computing as a craft.
We grew up in obscure corners of the Internet and learnt from strangers who encouraged our curiosity, shared their knowledge and even helped us access resources we couldn't afford. Somewhere along the way, we found our people. Now that we're in a position to do the same for others, we'd like to return the favor.
If any of these feel familiar we’d love to hear from you.
🦆 Announcing DuckDB 2.0.0 LTS “Cinnamon Teal”
We are proud to release DuckDB 2.0.0, named after the cinnamon teal (Spatula cyanoptera), a striking reddish-brown duck found in the western Americas. 🌎
DuckDB 2.0.0 is the biggest DuckDB feature release so far. It ships a polished version of the Quack protocol, which turns DuckDB into a full-fledged server. It improves performance and lowers costs through supporting asynchronous I/O, a first-class VARIANT type, and a dedicated “agent mode”. It also empowers extension developers with a new SQL parser that allows adding new statements, clauses, and keywords, a new API to build on, and a new mechanism to distribute extensions more easily.
In our announcement blog post, we summarize the highlights and then walk through the key changes and give guidance on how to migrate to 2.0. For the complete release notes, see the release page on GitHub.

Rails + Text-only Bedrock KB: cheap and worked great.
Upgraded my Rails + Bedrock app to multimodal search.
Added a 2nd KB with OpenSearch Serverless for image processing,
worked amazingly: Unexpected bill! 😅
Always check idle costs! 💡 😭 #aws#developerlife
🔒 https://t.co/WIYfwIbk19 now displays security warnings for gems with known vulnerabilities. For now, the warnings are limited to the website, but Bundler integration is on the roadmap. #Ruby https://t.co/0X9TtRoJo4
Elon Musk flips a vehicle upside down and everyone claps and cheers. But when I do it, suddenly I'm "recklessly endangering children" and "unfit to be a school bus driver".

It introduces Ractor local GC, Windows support of YJIT, autoload_relative, and adds many improvements
I translated my article introducing RubyGems/Bundler 4.1 into English. Part 1 covers override, which rewrites or drops gem dependencies from your Gemfile, and prune, which strips caches from the bundle path. Both are in 4.1.0.beta2.

DuckDB 2.0 CLI is getting an Agent Mode. It prints in markdown and returns errors in JSON when it detects an agent. Major major quality of life for agentic loops using DuckDB CLI. So good.
