Preparations for the Kenya Health Summit 2026 are in the final stretch, with technical teams intensifying coordination ahead of the national event.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, and Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, co-chaired a high-level planning meeting bringing together the Summit’s technical committees and key stakeholders to assess progress and finalise outstanding activities.

Committee leads provided updates on programme development, exhibitions, logistics, communications and resource mobilisation. The meeting also reviewed the proposed thematic areas and plenary sessions, stakeholder participation, exhibition booth allocation, resource requirements and implementation timelines.

The Kenya Health Summit 2026 will take place on 18–19 August 2026 in Nairobi under the theme, “Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right.”

The meeting brought together senior Ministry of Health officials, chief executive officers of health-sector State Corporations, county government representatives and other institutions involved in organising the Summit.

Recognising their contribution, H.E. President @WilliamsRuto today announced reforms at State House to improve the welfare, recognition and professional development of Private Security Officers across the country. The reforms include strengthening labour standards, enforcing compliance with the minimum wage and reviewing existing laws to better support the sector.

In a significant step towards restoring dignity to the profession, the Government will also remove the terms “watchman” and “guard” from all official Government documents. Going forward, they will be formally recognised as Private Security Officers, reflecting the professionalism and vital role they play in safeguarding our nation.
