This population-based trial investigated the efficacy and safety of using MRI in #ProstateCancer screening among men aged 50 to 60 with elevated📈 PSA levels. Participants were randomized to undergo either systematic biopsy with or without MRI-targeted biopsy, or MRI-targeted biopsy only. After a median follow-up of 3.9 years, the MRI-targeted biopsy group had a significantly lower detection rate of clinically insignificant prostate cancer compared to the systematic biopsy group (2.8% vs. 4.5%).

Clinically significant cancer detection was similar between groups, and the risk of advanced cancer remained low in both. Omitting biopsy in men with negative MRI results reduced overdiagnosis of low-risk cancer without increasing the risk of missing advanced disease.
